Jayden and I love the Christmas Holidays. If we could we would go to the Christmas Train, the tractor lighted parade, the Polar Express in Hood River, the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Times Square… etc…

In July, He is wondering when we can get out the Christmas Lights in the Garage. He has learned how to Zip Tie the presents and oh so desperately wants to help me on top of the roof… mommy says no.

He loves decorating the Christmas Tree and has helped out at home with Mommy’s guidance. We watch all of the Christmas Shows and movies too.

We love this time of the year and I appreciate him for that. For Jayden he still has such an imagination and adventurous heart that makes life a wonder every day.

He is doing quite well in school getting a 68 in the reading score and a 93 on his mathematical score. He needed to score over 30 and 40 respectively to be average, but as I suspected, he is above average. Jayden is also getting better at the social aspect of school. He is doing better and better all the time and I am so happy that he has adjusted so well to the new environment and new school.

Jayden had a wonderful last week of school as he was named super star again at school and enjoyed getting picked up by daddy and playing with Kallee Boo and I until mommy came home. He got to spend a lot of time with his grandparents and keeps telling us and Grandpa Lee that he wants an Ipad… we are telling him no way until he is a lot older. Jayden made cookies with mommy and Grandma as well as a gingerbread house too. He is very interested in how things work and how to make things as that is one of his favorite things to do. He loves creating.

I will be talking about Christmas in the next post but I will tell you that I am NOT happy being back at work.. the break was great!!!

Jayden is Amazing

Jayden is an amazing person... He is so nice to his sister when she is not as sweet to him. He is loving going to school and has already done some great things. Jayden ran over 11 laps to help raise money for the school and is learning to count well and add a little. He had created 4 books already that he has read to both Alison and I. He loves hanging out with Dawson and Jonah and Wyatt and Madeline for a while after school. This makes him happy.

JJ is also very impressive in his swimming lessons. He has gotten so good about keeping his head underwater and getting oh so close to wading and staying a float. He can hold his breathe and can go down to the bottom without help. JJ also is getting comfortable on his back in the water. The improvements since last swimming lessons is amazing... really amazing. You can tell the beach water works in Maui helped as well as his age. JJ is so big that he can touch the bottom of the pool through most of the pull. Amazing....

Kallee is also getting so big that she is almost all the way out of 3T's and is going to 4. It is so amazing to see the growth in both of them in the last 6 months. JJ does not use baby talk anymore and is showing great poise while still loving the adventure.

How big is he, well yesterday he came upstairs while I was folding laundry and showed me that he had pulled his own tooth!! He did it all himself. The Dentist did the first one,,, we were at the dentist so the dentist pulled his first one. His 2nd tooth he lost he pulled it himself... amazing...

No tears, just excitement that the tooth fairy was going to visit him again... and the tooth fairy did so everything in JJ's world is perfect.

Jayden and Soccer and School

Jayden and Soccer,

What a difference a year makes. JJ is really improving at the game. He is still a little crazy out there runningin circles and diving on the ground and not paying attention to the coach. But then there are times of clarity thatshows that he really understands what is being told to him. Jayden has listened to his coach and has madesome good passes to his teammates for scores and his throw-ins are topnotch. But my favorite is the time whenhe scored his second goal of the game. Itold Jayden to go to the goal and look for a pass because you do not have tochase the ball but be ready for a pass. Well the coaches boy was running up the sideline and Jayden did what Itold him to and the he was passed the ball and JJ one timed it into thegoal. It was just like what you right upwhen you are a coach. It was beautiful;he also saved two goals in the game by kicking them out of the goal box. He still has to learn to control his emotionsand energy, but he has improved so much in one year.

JJ is also doing so well at school. He has been given awards and has created somevery impressive books. I am so proud ofhow he has adjusted to Kindergarten and how he seems to be excelling. He loves the library and the ability to checkout books. He loves music class. He really loves gym and ran 11 laps for theschool. He made good money for hisschool and he is hoping to win a bike.

He amazes me everyday with what he can do and how much heknows.

He is getting better at doing chores and maintaining hisroom.. though I still do get frustrated with his ability to take forever to getit done…. Ughh

JJ and Kindergarten

JJ and the FightJayden has started Kindergarten and it has been a really nice experience except for one small point. Jayden punched another kid. Why, he wanted too. Did the boy do anything to him? No. Was He angry? No. So we had to have the “what are you thinking” and “you did something hurtful and bad”. It was hard because you could see on his face he was embarrassed and hurt and felt dumb. But you have to be a parent or it will happen more than you want. Jayden also spent some time with me at Open House at my school. He drew on the board and wrote a apology note and really wants to come back when there are games to be played and hang around the school. He is getting old enough that this is a very viable option. He had a good time and I enjoyed him being there.Jayden also started upward soccer again and seems to be having fun 70 percent of the time. He pouts sometimes but it is getting better. He had a lot of fun at the Sausage Fest that Christ the King put on with Kallee and his Cousins and cannot wait to do again next year. He is improving everyday on his writing and pronunciation of letters. I am really proud of him. He is grown so fast this summer both emotionally and physically. He really makes me proud of him when I see how he is with Kallee and with his mommy. The way he is getting better about cleaning up after himself and how he wants to help fix things. His ability to work on things and his curious mind that tries to figure out how things tick. PS He loves that he gets to ride the school bus… in fact he wished the bus went the long way so he could be on it a little longer… that will change over time.

Jayden and the Start of Kindergarten

The end of summer was anti-climatic to the start. JJ, Kallee, Alison and I did some parks and went to the Fair and a few other small things.

The biggest moment was really seeing if Jayden was ready to start Kindergarten. Not Physically because he is a big boy. Not Mentally because he can count to 100, He knows he letters and can write the alphabet and type his name as well as sound out a few words.

Jayden and I spent hours at the end of the summer writing and sounding our words and even trying to learn his colors in Spanish. We talked about money and what the different coins represented and how much they were worth.

He is very talented and I have to give props to Mrs. Sutherland and Mrs. Travis at Childrens Garden. Their borders and work with Jayden have paid off. I may have not been as patient as they were with Jayden but in the end he performed well.

It would be emotionally. He was talking “Baby” talk almost all summer.. and it was getting to the point of annoyance . He also still was really whining and pouting at times. He was getting so excited that he would act younger than his age. I had tough talks about Jayden with people and they were nervous about Jayden starting out this year as well. It was a big slap in the face to Alison and I about what we needed to do for Jayden to be successful. Alison gave Jayden calming talks and soothing rebuffs. I was honest about what kids might say to him if he acted the way he was, and they would make fun of him.

Jayden changed, not just because of us, but because he wanted very much to go to Kindergarten. He stopped wearing night diapers and slept in his underwear. He has cut down a lot on the baby talk and did his “schoolwork”. I still get really nervous for him because I do not want him to fear school or not like it like he was at the end of last year. But not as nervous as before. So…

We had an open house to see his new teacher Mrs. Heppworth. He also got to hang with mommy and a bear one day and finally, last Friday he went to his first day of school.

He loved it. He met a new friend named Jackson and likes his teacher and loves playing at recess with Jonah. He loves spending the afternoon at Auntie Emily’s and having adventures with Dawson. He likes going to school in the morning and can stand in line without touching anyone else.

Days 14-16

Day 14

Jayden and Kallee got to spend the whole day with Grandpa and Grandma. They seemed to be very happy with the grandparent and uncle Roy as Jayden won the most Uno games over all comers. Jayden was very excited to tell us how he beat every one in cards. He even gave up going swimming to play cards with Roy and Grandma. Kallee was okay as she was color with complete intensity.

Kallee has so many great facial expressions… When we ask Jayden if he wants to go somewhere,,, Kallee says “I go too,.,, yes” and she gets so excited when we say yes… Then her best word is no. NO!!.. You may not be able to understand all she says… but the word NO is not one of them. She says that one with intensity.

Today we went on a great snorkel cruise to Honokahoua bay. It was on the Genmini and it was a great run. Alison and I stayed in the water more than anyone else. I was also the one who say the Giant Sea Turtle on the trip and one of the first to see the Spinner Dolphins. It was a wonderful trip but I still am having issues with nausea.

We had some food and then I got to eat Ono Gellato and it was awesome. The day was nice to spend with Alison as we walked places and just enjoyed being together… good times for us.

Day 15

Today we started off with a 30 dollar breakfast and then went and picked up Kallee and Jayden…. It was great to see them as they were so excited to see us,…. I love that about them… Kallee is really great with the hugs.

We came back to the Hotel and Jayden was so happy. He wanted to come back to the pool and we did. We were in the water for 4 and a half hours… My Kallee boo stayed in the pool and the hot tub the whole time.. amazing. This is the girl who did not want to be down there at all… but she found her niche with the inner tube.

Kallee and Jayden loved the hotel. They are so excited with the birds and the pools and the beach. Tonight we ended up on a date with our children. Alison and Jayden went really fast and then Kallee and I on a more leisurely stroll. Jayden and mommy played in the sand and played by the big boats and watched for sea shells. Kallee and I climbed up Major Anchors from some really big boats.

Ironically we both found ourselves at Whalers village but never saw each other… Mommy and Jayden were upstairs and Kallee and I down. We watched a Polynesian dance and hula show that was amazing. The boys and girls were awesome.. Kallee was dancing and shaking her booty.

Kallee and I walked around the shops and took the trolley back to the hotel and then watched the moon and stars while Jayden and Mommy walked back.. it was a beautiful night and we took advantage of it.. I think that we had a very lovely day and great night. The sunset was amazing as well.

Day 16

I have to say it started rough but came up beautiful. Jayden started the day in the drink. Literally. Jayden was waiting to feed the fish and then all of a sudden, he was in the fish. He had fallen in… I know my son the always great on his feet, never falling down, great coordination Jayden. The mother who was talking to Alison was quick on her feet, and the security/safety team was really awesome… and did such a wonderful thing going beyond what was expected of them. They are amazing people and I will always remember Kim and the rest of the staff at the Hyatt Regency in Maui. I know that when we come back we are going to come here. Amazing staff amazing resort… love it. Jayden was even given the opportunity to feed the fish afterwards… They are so nice to my children. They did not look at Jayden as someone to be scorned… but to be cared for.

Jayden Banged his head and then also skinned up his knee and probably gave the fish a fright of their life… the penguins just watched with amusement. The kids love feeding the fish and talking to the Macaws and Parrots. We swam forever and I worked with Kallee on her swim kick,,, but otherwise, swimming lessons went to the wayside. Alison and Jayden were all over the pool.

Tonight we walked the beach for the final night… we made some sand castles, got some shells, walked int the water, watched some hula dancers and fire dancers, ate dinner at a place called Longboards.. and then came back to the hotel. It was a beautiful night with a wonderful sunset and a time to spend together as a family…… Jayden was happy, Kallee Boo was happy, Mommy was happy and I was Happy.

Since Alison came into my life I have been so blessed… Trips together to Vegas, Washington DC. Mariners Games and Trips to Phoenix and Tuscan. Then the Jayden and Kallee came and we took short trips to Lake Chelan, and Seattle and Portland, and the great trips to Seaside. But this was the best family trip we have taken. Filled with so much adventure and moments… so much happiness and energy and fun… I would be lying if I said I was always happy, no I got annoyed and sick and tired and had to punish both JJ and Kallee Boo.. Boo would have major tired hissy fits and Jayden with his tryiong to do all things on his own.. but even with that I would say that life was great here…. I cannot wait to come back to Maui. I was so fortunate to stay and see the house I remember as a kid and the memories with my grandparents… the yard and the neighborhood.. The Iao Valley and the beaches, and the time with my parents here.. Jayden and Kallee are fortunate to see both grandparents so much.

Days 13 & 14 and Where to Eat on Maui

Day 12,

Jayden once again was a crier, pretty much all day long.. he cried when he did not think he was getting his way. He cried when he did not think the waitress heard he wanted ketchup, he cried that we were going to go to a hotel, he cried because he could not get his clothes on fast. He cried when he was told to get out of bed… then he fell asleep at the restaurant. The kid goes and goes and goes until he is to the point of breaking.. He does not trust mommy and me that we will not have his interests in mind. I am not sure why he does not think we know what he wants and what he likes, because we know him better then he does.

Kallee was also in trouble a lot but more for not listening to his mother… she is a tough cookie and does what she wants… which gets her in big trouble with her father and daddy wins.

We have moved to Kaanapali Beach and are staying at the Hyatt Regency on the beach. It is a very beautiful and cool hotel with lots of things for the kids and us to do… I will talk about it tomorrow.

Tonight I am burnt and in pain and very tired. But I have to tell you about some of the best places that we have eaten at so far.

I will try to remember her name but she got Kallee some Ice Cream and Kallee remember her from the other day and she went over and gave her a hug… she and the Waitress had all saying ahhhhh… It was a good day. But I am tired so I will talk tomorrow.

Day 13

It was a very nice day except for the 2nd degree burns. You would think I would have learned. So for future reference… when in paradise… in Hawaii and your back and shoulders have not seen the sun in 10 years. And you think just between the clouds are in the air and the wind is blowing,,, you will burn… The good news is the blisters are going away… the bad news is the kids keep hitting me in the tail bone and the Kallee rips at the scabs when I carry her… aah to be a daddy. Side note, Alison was watching the Maui Channel and it just told us about how to be careful with the sun and we are 21 degrees closer to the sun and so you can get burned easier and faster… nice huh. She is still laughing at us.

Second side note… Kallee is like a Pro-Bowl Corner when she wants to get picked up.. she literally jumps in front of you and then shadows your every move so you cannot get by her.

The kids had a good day, we ate at the Hyatt Regency Swan Court where the kids ate and played and fed the Koi fish and watched the penguins get fed. They also have many tropical birds that Jayden and Kallee kept saying aloha and laughing at which the bird laughed back… I will have to get the name of the bird. We then spend 3 great,,, (miserable as my blisters were poping under my shirt) hours at the pool where Kallee played in the little pool and Jayden did not get to go down the big slide… he was very sad so next time we will do it. He has to be 48 inches… But he got over it and had a great time swimming with mommy and going under the water fall and jumping in and just being a boy. Kallee and I did the sand and the kiddie water, and then the hot tub and then we moved to the shade by the pool and just lounged for a while… the pool will be coming into my future as I get over this burn.

Kallee and Jayden have so many things to look at and we did not even hit the beach at Kanapali yet.

Grandma and Grandpa Gebers picked up the kids and will have them for a couple of days and that let Alison and I revel in the past…. We went to the two places we stayed at for our honeymoon,, Lahaina Shores and the Royal Lahaina…. And then we ate at Basil Tomatoes… I love that place great memories, and great food… it was awesome.. I finally got to eat rizzoto. I like rizzotto… It tasted so good. It was a very nice way to spend a night with the one woman I will love and honor for the rest of my life. We enjoyed that so much and then we moved to Front St. In Lahaina and just walked and perused. It was cool. I went back and bought a Maui Built water shirt for our Molokini adventure so I do not burn more, and then I bought a Maui Built tee. For Alison I bought her a sweatshirt. It is cool to buy something that you can only buy on Maui… Nice.. cause this ain’t the mainland. We could really live here because we both like the whole Maui time.

It was fun and nice day and a great, and fond night of awesome food and memories…

Days 10 and 11

Day 10.

Sadly we are on the tail end of the trip. It has been good. Of course we are now really ourselves… we are getting up later and we are not leaving the Maui House until after 11. As a family we are all very lethargic when it comes to getting ready and leaving… plus we overpack and we always forget something.

Oh well.

We hit the baby beach again today and the tide was way in. The surf was high and the surfers were out in force. There were great breakers and some good pipeline as well. Maybe we will take some surfing lessons… Maybe.

The beach was fun and Alison and Jayden got to swim a lot. Kallee and I stayed on the beach and Kallee jumped the waves. Then the kids and Alison created a great sand castle. Kallee decorated it with shells and nut parts. Jayden built a huge moat and a great wall to protect the castle. We then came home and had a good meal and then it was cards and off to bed.

Jayden and Kallee also wrote letters to the family and hopefully they get it by the time we leave.

Alison really loves the time we are spending together as a family and the kids are really loving life. They are pretty happy with the exception of the “I am so tired” crying explosions people have. But right now Jayden is watching movies in his room and getting ready to fall asleep. And Kallee and Mommy are talking and laughing in their room and just being happy together…

It is a good life.

Day 11,

We got up earlier and we still did not leave until 10… crazy. The kids got to get squirt guns which they used in the ocean. The water was way up the beach and it was cloudy and I still got a burn… ah life. We also picked up some family t-shirts and had a wonderful day again at the beach.

We ate at the Lahaina Pizza and it was awesome. Good food and great atmosphere.. the place is right on the beach and we got a beach front table… It was a great time. We went to the Old Baynon Tree to let Kallee and Jayden play on it. They love climbing it.

It was a very nice relaxing and great day. It is nice to feel vacation… it is nice to feel you are just part of the earth. I kept watching Kallee dig a big hole and sit in it, Alison helping and reading a book. I say Jayden swim and boogie board and swim over the coral reefs without being scared. Then I looked out and saw the breaking waves and the pipelines and the other Islands; the Molakini Crater, Lain’I,I Molokai, and Kahoolawe and thinking to myself… this is was I am supposed to do not.. enjoy great atmosphere and great family… we are so very lucky.

Day 9 Maui Shirts and Sand.

Kallee Boo’s bottom has big rash.. It is sad as we have done the baking soda bath and creams and she is now feeling okay unless she has to go to the bathroom. She has pooped again on the toilet so hopefully she gets used to that once she is done with the runs.

Jayden and Kallee and Mommy and I started the day talking to Uncle Jonah and Auntie Elanor. They came down from the up country to talk with us and it was very nice to see them again. I remember great memories with them at their house and luau’s and the beach. They were very good to me. Roy came over and had a wonderful time just talking. Jayden really loves Uncle Roy… and Roy is very kind to Jayden and he really wants to see him almost every day. Grandma treated us to the Maui Ocean Center and it was a ton of fun. The fish were amazing and Jayden and Kallee really did appreciate the fish and aquatic life. They also got to look at the bay at MaaLea….. It was a wonderful time. Jayden loved the the area where you can see the fish and the sharks and the rays swim above you and around you. He and Kallee also loved the turtles and the Hammerheads. Jayden and I then spent sometime finding more Geocache targets. We have found 6 or 7 so far on the Island. It is fun but I slipped on and tree and got a rock right in the tailbone.. I am moving a lot slower now. The Geocaching so far kind of disappointing as there are not many fun boxes… I am going on the Internet to see if we can find some better ones online.

I also bought some red dirt tees. They are dyed and printed in real red dirt from Maui. I love the shirts from the Islands especially Maui. I have Crazy Shirts, Red Dirt Shirts. Hawaiian Style shirts and Maui Built Shirts. I really like supporting the Island and the shirts rock.

Maui Built (the best part of these shirts is that you cannot buy them on-line. Only in Kahului and Lahaina.

We then wend to Moose Mcgillycuddys for some great food and awesome service. The people were awesome there and even displayed the pictures that Jayden and Kallee colored on the wall. It meant a lot to me. We were treated well and the people there were so cool. We will definitely go there again. Awesome people and the spirits and food were great too.

We came home and played uno with roy again and Jayden and Roy won the most.

Days 7 & 8

Day 7

Today was a tough day for Kallee Boo as she was sick from the start to the finish. She had the runs and we had to make an emergency run to the store to get more diapers as she went through many a diaper. She also threw up…. Poor girl. Jayden was fine being around the house as he got to play cards with uncle roy and his cars and his new helicopter. He went to the park and had a great and famous shaved ice from toms mini mart. Alison once again had a little trouble with the sun and the burning part as she got it on the legs this time. I am okay as are the kids. But both are happy with their Maui Home.

The best news for us was that Kallee Boo went poopie on the toilet… (Yea!!!!!). But the runs closed down the show for the rest of the day. Hopefully we get a 2^nd chance tomorrow.

Day 8.

Poor Kallee Boo’s she is still fighting the runs, but she was pretty tough. We got her to go on the toilet again this morning.. (Alison is the leader of this.), and then we got dress and mommy and Kallee went to the store. Jayden and I spelled and pronounced words. Then I got Jayden to write the alphabet, he needed help with only 8 letters. Hopefully we will get more of the letters down the next time.

We then went to a park that is dedicated to the past of Maui. It has homes of the past from countries and populations that make of Maui. A Japanese Pagoda, Portuguese House with a smoker, a Koren house, Chinese, and a Filipino Hut. Jayden loved running through the Bamboo forest, and Kallee loved yelling at the koi fish. Crazy Kids.

We then drove up to the Iao Needle and Jayden swam in the stream and jumped from the rocks. Kallee made a slide from the top of a huge boulder to the bottom… It was cute and I have video.

We then did some Geocaching. And Found a Geocaching box!!! Our first one. It was at the Big Rock and the Iao Needle that I had found before… but we did not see it,,, it was hidden behind some rocks. Jayden got a rubber ball from it and Kallee got a Bunny. We left a trout there and we will watch its progress. Fun times. Jayden and I found two others and they were a Bum House and a corner of a busy street… some are good some are not so good… it is what it is. We then hit the mall and ate at Maui’s Tacos.

Jayden was super excited at Uncle Roy came over and we all played cards and I believe Jayden was the big winner. Jayden then walked Uncle Roy home… as did Grandma and Mommy and Kallee in the stroller. It was a good day. Hopefully Kallee’s bottom gets better.

Day 4

A good day and a tough day. We started with my 42nd birthday and a great card from my mother and father in law. It was written so well and made me feel appreciated and loved I was very happy to get it. My parents were also impressed. My mother made me tacos for lunch and we went to a flea market at the community college. It was a lot of fun and I bought myself a few hats and a shark necklace.

Jayden had a tough time because he wanted a toy and then when he spent his own money for it he found it needed batteries and we would not go buy them. He had a breakdown. We saw a spoiled boy who did not understand how much he is given. He is a really great kid, but he has some things that with his parents help, he is going to have to work through. He is at times trying to raise himself and has trust issues…

Grandpa took the kids to the park and they had a wonderful time. We then went to a miniature golf course with lots of things to do. Jayden looked like he was having a wonderful time as he tried to golf in a left handed push way. Mommy tried to help him but he always reverted back to a very interesting stance. Kallee did not understand all the fuss and she just went over to the hole and dropped the ball in. Problem solved. They both got to do rock climbing and then Jayden did some trampoline extreme bouncing. But then gave another pouting face when he saw daddy and Kallee on the water bumber boats without him. He did get to ride it but he literally looked like a kid who did not get to do a whole bunch of fun things in the past three days. Hopefully in the next few days we will sit down and have talks with Jayden and get him to understand how enjoyable life is and he should be thankful for what he is given.

Day 5.

It was a day of ups and downs, literally. The Family took their one (and maybe only in my lifetime) trip to the top of Haleakela. I cannot tell you how lovely, awesome and enormous the volcano is. It is truly a once in a lifetime sight. It has so many colors of lava rock and the crater is so big. It is hard to explain to Jayden that the Crater is “the hole” at the top of the mountain. He was expecting a Cartoon like hole, but he got the concept of it. Jayden and Kallee and Alison have now been to a real volcano and back. They have a plant there that is found nowhere else in the world. It is called the silver sword. It is a beautiful plant… Amazing. The view was breathtaking as you could see forever. You were literally on top of the clouds and I took many pictures. It was also breathtaking because you could to a walk on a lava rock trail and go to one of the peaks. We did and Jayden and Alison made it all the way to the top. I was short of breathe a lot trying to chase Jayden down as he was flying up and down the trail. He had a great time and so did we. Kallee loved being there as well and we tried to find the Nene Bird. (State bird of Hawaii), but decided it must be sleeping…

The down side was the road. OMG,.,,, it was a 10 mile twisting turning gut wrenching trip to get to the state park… then you had another 11 mile trip to the crater… I was sick, Jayden was sick, Kallee was a little sick and so was Alison….. That part will make this a onetime only trip. Unless they make a really large escalator.

We also hit the winery in Upalakua. Alison love the pineapple wine… The kids had a great time exploring the grounds with Grandpa and Jayden got to play on a cannon. I was still sick and found tums and real ginger ale and black licorice… I survived.

We also got to see some great memories. We did some shopping at the same store that my mother used to shop at when she was a little girl. I got to see the hospital that my grandma and grandpa worked at. And Jayden and Kallee saw the house that my mother grew up in when she was a child. It still looked pretty good. It was great trip for me to see things that were part of my mother’s history. Jayden and Kallee ate at the restaurant that my mother used to have Chinese food at. (It now serves sandwiches and great desserts.) This was in Kula. The store is called Fongs Store and they were the riches people on the island… It is still called Fongs Store… History is still alive.

To see my mother talk about her past brings up so many good memories about how people have lived when they were young. My father’s house in Minnesota and Qunicy. Connie’s house in St. Josephs and the colleges that she and Dick went to. I want my children to get to see these places. To know what life was and is for their grandparents and how truly lucky they are that they get to see them this much and talk to them and to feel their love. Blessed is how I feel, and I know my children feel the blessings the get not only from us, but from their grandparents and cousins and aunties and uncle, and and the Grandma Aunties and Uncles. Jayden really likes Uncle Roy and loves playing with him. Kallee just wants to ride on his cart.

Day 6

This was a day at the beach again day. We finally got to the point where the burns were not so bad. It was a good day to hit the baby beach. We stopped and picked up snorkeling gear and watch fishes and coral underwater. I am hoping that the underwater camera that I got took good pics as we tried to chase down a few tropical fish. There were a few really cool ones plus a sea cucumber or slug… or whatever it was. Colorful tropical fish and some minnows that I tried to chase towards Jayden and he tried to jump on, but he kept missing. Jayden wanted to stay in the water the whole time changing from his snorkel and fins to fins to boogie boarding to fins and boogie boards. Kallee did do some great swimming kicks in the water.. But definitely like playing on the beach the most. I was snorkeling most of the time. Alison and I then took the kids to Front Street and had a wonderful time as Jayden and Kallee climbed the world’s largest banyan tree for a long time.

The fourth of July was so nice for us as Kallee kept singing happy birthday. She is just a happy little girl. Kallee just seems to be happy all the time, except when she does not get her way. She usually then just falls asleep.

It was a good day to celebrate the nation and our freedom. A freedom that we benefit from all the time. God has given us a wonderful family and we are blessed to be Americans… and we celebrated this Maui Style.

Day 2

After unsuccessfully helping Grandpa fix the brakes we rented a car and headed out to the Beach… We went to the Baby Beach, which is just NW of Old Lahaina. It was great, though Alison and I both have burns to show for it. Kallee loved playing in the sand and actually played some in the water. Jayden played with the boogie board the whole time. (He still does not swim well. But the board helped his kicking a lot.) Plus you could go out almost a hundred yards out and still not be over his head. We looked at the little rock reefs and did some minnow and crab watching… then we ate at Cheeseburger at Paradise… At cheeseburger at Paradise we lost Kallee many times as she kept chasing the birdies trying to catch them. But she stayed in her chair as she found a wonder pineapple smoothie to drink. I saw pure love on her face. Jayden then went oyster fishing and got his mother a wonderful pink pearl.

At night Jayden and I played U-no with Uncle Roy and say Uncle Jerry and Aunie Di. It was a good day.

Day 3

After the sunburn incident yesterday, Alison and I thought it best to find… less sunny things to do. Kallee and Jayden were not even affected by the sun… they are lucky. So Grandma and Grandpa went with us to the Iao Needle Valley. We did some walking and climbing. Kallee wanted the bananas off the banana trees and got to see how taro is created. We took pictures of the Ioa Needle. Kallee and Jayden loved playing in the stream and walking on the water rocks. It was fun as Jayden and Grandma Traversed the water and rocks to a nice pool. We also finished are first Geo Caching adventure and found a rock… not very exciting.

Kallee and Jayden also got to play at the Mall and went on a train ride in the mall. Kallee got to each Coconut Muchi which is a kind of doughnut. Jayden was not as interested. But he did love the Shaved Ice with Hawaiian Punch, Cherry, and Pineapple flavoring. It was a great time. Uncle Roy came Over again and played Uno with Jayden. Jayden loves playing Uno.

The adventures are good because Jayden and Kallee tell us that they had a great time. We are fortunate to be here and so far, it has been very pleasurable

Day 1 in Hawaii

I am posting the same story on Jaydens and Kallee's blog, so you do not have to read it twice, but when they get older they can read them on their own blog.

Day 1

Jayden, Kallee, Alison and I had to get up at 5:30 in the morning to go to the airport. We actually bought lightweight suitcases so that we could “pack” right for Hawaii… (so far we over packed cold weather clothes, the weather has been great).

The luggage worked great as our suitcases weighed 38 and 45 pounds respectively…. (Alison was not happy that she took some clothes out before we left… my bad.)

The airport it self was.. interesting, the kids did okay in line, but we had to check two bags and a car set.. then we were carrying a stroller, booster seat, 1 more suit case, a computer backpack, Jayden’s backpack, Kallee’s backpack, and Alison’s bag..we seriously had like 10 things to x-ray. The I was done and Alison took the kids to get snacks and me Black Licorice…

Kallee and Jayden were really excited about flying for the first time. They could not wait. That is until we got on the plane and we were taxing down the runway. That is when Jayden asked “are we there yet??” That got about 15 chuckles from the other passengers and sympathetic looks from older people whose kids were older. Kallee was lucky as the person next to her was a great gentleman who did not mind the questions and the kicks as she kept flopping across both him and me. But she did almost sleep halfway. Then I took her for an hour and then Alison had both of them for an hour and a half. Jayden was very good except for when the movie players would not work and then he threw a major fit… and loud. But daddy had a laptop and movie time was saved… yeah!!..

The both watched as they counted at least 5 islands coming into Maui and they thought the landing was good…. But Jayden was disappointed because he thought we were landing right on the beach.

But he got over it. The first day was for us to find out how warm it really was here, even with the trade winds… I was ripe by the time we came back from a local park were Jayden climb a coconut tree. The plants here are awesome and I wish I could take them and grow them in our yard. The house, which was originally my Grandparents has been completely redecorated and redone and looks very attractive. Jayden and Kallee both have their own rooms. And we have our own bathroom and room. It is great.

Alison and I went to Buzz’s and I had a wonderful Filet Mignon and Alison had the Ono. The kids stayed with Grandpa and Grandma and were happy to leave us.

So far everything is going great for Jayden in his 5^th year. We have taken advantage of the windy days and flown kites. We have an assortment of them and it seems we have to bring them all out just because that is what Jayden does. When he plays with his Hot Wheels , all of them come out. Trains, all of them come out… He does play with everything, but for only 5 minutes,, then there is a mess to pick up.

Jayden is getting better at the Wii and can set it all up by himself. He also is learning and playing a lot of games on the computer. When he plays the Wii he gets into in and by the time he is done, he is breathing hard and tired because he literally moves all around the room back and forth left and right… He is a mover.

Jayden is getting better at his letters as he is spelling his fist name now and he is recognizing the letters and is getting close to being able to write all of them. He gets frustrated by them but he still needs to work on them. Numbers seem to come easy to him and he is counting well as well as being able to write many of them.

Jayden also got to go out on date with his Mommy as they went to the Bowling alley to Bowl. He loved it and cannot wait to bowl again. He wants to do more date times with his mommy because they are fun and he gets to miss school. I think all boys think that way.

We had Easter this last weekend and it went well. He ate all of the food except the potatoes as he still stays away from combination foods. He is starting to like spaghetti , but then will only eat peach and orange yougurt. He is very particular still on what he eats. But he is also kind when it comes to food. He gave all of his easter candy away but one piece. He gave it to Kallee, and Mommy and me.. What a good kid. The day was filled with egg hunts and fun as he had a hunt with Grandma and Grandpa Lee as well as one with his Cousins at Grandpa and Grandma Gebers. It was a very nice time and we talked to Jayden about how Jesus died and came back to life… he is not quite sure about the whole thing but he does know that God lives inside him. That is very nice to know..

Jaydens 5th Birthday Party taught us many things about us and our son Jayden. First that we love him and others love him enough to have like 4 different parties. That is Grandparents survived Chuck E Cheese and Grandma and Grandpa Lee even went to Ice Cream with us afterwards. The fact that JJ's mother would take the time to make great cupcakes and find out what he wants his theme party to be and then have it at Garlands means that Jayden is loved. The fact that the rest of the family always takes time off of their schedule to celebrate with Jayden was impressive. He has so many loved ones and so many that want to be part of his life.

Then there is the bad,,, the fact that people do not RSVP or that some people who we thought liked our son did not bother to show on this special occasion was an eye opener and it kept Alison and I awake at night before the big party. But we should not have worried, we should not have ever felt bad. Because we found out that there are so many who do like JJ and who care. The party was a HUGE success. The kids that showed up were awesome. They played all over the place, on the big swing and on the mats and the poles and the zip line and the climbing rope,.... and then watched JJ get to do the Bungee line and he loved it. He was smiling and laughing and having a great time.. He was exactly what U know he is, the kid who always seeks adventure and fun. The kids who were there to celebrate the moment, Jayden, Kallee, Wyatt, Dawson, Jonah, Madeline, Parker, Bailey, Ellen, Olivia, and Marina, and Nolan and Mason who also celebrate with my son made his 5th very memorable. They all got perfect gifts that showed they know our so so very well... Hot Wheels, and Backugans, and Roller Shoes and race car tracks, then the computer and remote control cars, and nerfs and transformers... man Jaydens friends could not have done better.

I know that every parent wants to see their kid with rose colored glasses and think he or she is the perfect child and the most popular and the most athletic... but reality says that cannot be true. What can be true is this, a parent can hope and pray for the best for their children and care for them and love them. And when you ask your son who is his best friend and he says you and mommy, then all is right in the world...

So I will continue to pray for Jayden to have wonderful adventures with his family and loved ones, oh and for a great next year. Happy Birthday Jayden, you are 5 and wonderful.

Jayden turned 5 on March 18th. What an impressive first 5 years. My son has exceeded my expectations which is hard to do... I have high ones for him. He has an engineers mind, a hyper excitement, tunnel vision that is so focused he can ignore anything and anyone. Jayden loves to construct and move things and not pick up anything!! that he takes out.

Jayden cares a lot about people, trying to take the blame for things his friends and especially his sister to wrong. He loves spending time with his family and always wants the next adventure.. that is unless he is focused on the current adventure. He can write his name and he can, with a skip of a few numbers, count to 100. He is even drawing within the lines.

He is so into the number 5 now. He is 50 pounds exactly and 45 inches tall. He passed his hearing test and vision. Jayden loves to play the wii with his mommy and build trains and geo trax's with daddy.

What impresses me the most about my son is his heart. That boys wears his heart on his sleeve and it shows in his face and his eyes.. that oh so cute boy shows his emotions all over. Nothing, and I mean nothing will make my wife go on attack mode more than seeing her little boy hurting... she wants to protect him all the time. I want Jayden to get a little thinker skin, but I will always, always make sure that his adventurous and innocent, happy look of life stays as long as I can. I know that I can be hard on him, and I know that it seems to others that I am harsh. But all I want is to make sure that Jayden knows that he can be crazy wild, but with boundaries.

He loved going to Chucky Cheese and he loved getting his presents. He plays Hot Wheels at least once a day and the computer.. he has learned to start it himself and get online. (I set him up on Chrome so he can only go to PBS Kids, Nick Jr, Cool Math Games, and Disney Jr.)

He is getting so old as now he gets up in the morning and gets his own food and drink as well as dressing himself (with the constant badgering from his mother and father.) He is, well, growing up. It has been such an awesome year for us and I hope that life just gets better.

We are so fortunate that we have such a strong family around us... it means so much to Alison and I that people around us love our children. People that are trustworthy and caring, who make Kallee and Jayden laugh and run and feel loved. To all of you a heartfelt thank you, because our children not only love having you around, but truly need having you around. Also know for a fact that Jayden can bring sunshine into your day as well. He is a great kid and I am so proud of him.

So for Jayden I cannot wait to sail into the next adventure with you... what will we become next... pirates,,, super heros... maybe trains, who knows,, but two things will be for sure... I will be tired at the end and Jayden will want to do more....

It is almost to the point of happy tears that I write this. My son Jayden is such an amazing child. Alison is also choked up tonight about how much we love our son and how awesome he really is.

So to the story,

Jayden and Kallee were taking a bath, and as always I am multi tasking by folding the laundry. All of a sudden I hear Kallee say "oh no JJ oh no JJ!!! and calling for daddy. I go in thinking Jayden is playing with something and come to find my son sitting in the bathtub with blood just streaming down his face. I do the nervous laugh and say Jayden are you okay. Of course, not being father of the year I tell my goodness JJ that is amazing... then have him get out of the bath and then look in the mirror,,,, then I get my phone and start taking pics.

Why am I taking pics... because I am shocked how calm my son is... he is smiling for goodness sake. I start cleaning up when we hear mommy coming up.. I tell Jayden that wait till mommy see's it... he says mommy is going to laugh at me... I suck as a daddy as I laughed... poor jj and dumb daddy. Alison is scared for JJ and wants to know if we should take him to the emergency room. I again take a pic and send it to Boyd. Boyd calls right back and says yes! So we take him and drop Kallee off. He wants to show Grandma Gebers the cut,, and she of course takes a picture. My wife thinks we are a strange family with all of the pics...

Alison, as a very protective and nercous mother starts asking JJ how is he and if he is okay and if he is alright. I ask him if he can count to ten and he does no problem... we get out of the car and just to see if he has a concussion, I ask him questions about things and he answers everything right. Including what color was the sidewalk and he said "cracky". (there were a lot of cracks).

We take him to KGH, Kennewick General Hospital, where he was treated awesome by the staff and the Doctor.

He sits very well and makes up always sit in the same seats and in the same order every time we have to talk to nurses and staff there.

Dr. Gurney was amazing and got Jayden all stiched up.

And this is where I get choked up.... Through the shots and the stiches he never cries or gets nervous and never does anything but sit patiently and wait. He gets 3 different layers of stitches with the last set having about 9 stitches.

Alison starts holding Jayden's hand but has to sit down after a while,, she is green and pale and the nurse is more worried about her passing out then Jayden who again, is just sitting patiently.

After it is done the Nurse gives Jayden stickers with Hot Wheels and he is so happy. He also tells his mommy, who is still not feeling well, that everything is okay and it did not hurt and she should be okay. He is telling his mother that all is fine and he is so happy with the stickers.

It was hard not to tear up thinking about how so blessed we are.. He shares his stickers with his sister, because she does not have any. Jayden shares his chocolate with his mommy because he thinks that is right... and so it goes for my son, just another day in his interesting and adventurous life.

A New Year 2011

No resolution.,,,

I my mind a resolution is something that lasts as long as I have will power.. Here is what I promise. To pray more with my wife and children and keep them in God's mind always. I have failed in this area and this year I will resolve myself to praying "with" my family.

New Years Eve and Day have gone very well. We started to invite everyone to our house for New Years like last year, but luckily Auntie Emily felt like their house was much better for the occasion. And yes she was right.

New years have never been my favorite day except when I was a little kid and my parents used to go out and leave us with notes and surprises... Which were on a timeline all the way up to midnight. As I got older it would just get worst... 3 of the most miserable nights of my life were being sick on New Years Eve throwing up with a 103 degree fever. (yes 3 times).,.. plus I am not of the night life kid of guy... (was it as bad as Boyd and Brandt walking home from Findley,,, yea not sure.)...

But now with a family of my own,, I know that my kids and the cousins will have a good time on New Years and New Years Day. We had a great time eating finger foods and Alison's and my first fondue,,, in which my wife kept telling me I was doing it wrong and taking over. It was wonderful... the trick is having the idea and your wife taking over... plus we did a chocolate fondue...

Christmas Eve was a wonderful time and It was again so nice to see Rocky and Maverick and Dana. The boys played so well together. Rocky was teaching Jayden some fun games on the computer and the boys and Kallee did their present opening very well. Plus as you can see, they are 4 very attractive children, (the pics are from Grandpa Lee and can be found on his website.)

Plus I put some here....

Tonight the cousins played Wii Fit, (which apparently to the game I am 45-55 years old. ), together and did the ski jumps and the snowball fights... which is always a fun game. That Wii is amazing.. The Wii Fit kept the family... "moving" all day long. Maverick and Rocky are going to run track and play basketball this year so they are already in better shape that me by a way far amount... so far. And as for Auntie Dana who runs marathons.... well I will just stick to the Wii Fit for now. (So impressed with Dana and her running, way to go).

It was a good trip for us and we hope to see more of the Lujans in the future. And if Dana get this I want pics of the kids and of your gingerbread house and more of you running marathons...

Grandma and Grandpa Lee did a great job keeping Kallee occupied first with Grandma getting to play dress up and Grandpa then taking over and letting Kallee put him down for beddy bye with a nice tuck and then a kiss.

Alison prepared dinner and it was very nice. I love her spaghetti. All in all a good night.,... especially since I set a record on the Wii Fit obstacle course... yes!!

An old fashion Christmas At home.

Christmas is a time where everyone is to have joy and fun...... In our house it is the real deal.... We have fun and joy and happiness. It is the Greatest Time of the year. I love going to the Grandparents houses, (My Parents home is going to be talked about it Kallee's blog.), but for this time, nothing beats Christmas at home with your family. It is a great Christmas morning, when we listen to the kids wake up and Jayden gives a yelp of surprise!!! and he comes into your room and says look what Santa left us. A big stuffed pillow called .... (no name yet)... he was very excited... so was Kallee. Kallee and Jayden came downstairs and saw that Santa had come and left them lots of presents. Jayden was very sad for Santa as he left his Santa Bag and wanted to find him to give it back to him.

The gifts that santa left had remote control cars, playdoh, big cement mixers, bath toys, and Kallee's own Puppy named Bella,,, (It is the perfect dog,,, always obeys and allows Kallee to jump all over her... Bella is my favorite dog ever.)

We have not stopped playing with the toys including the Wii Santa graciously left us for Christmas. It was hard to get the family ready to go to the Gebers, but we finally got going... but we are already back playing the Wii and Playdoh factory....

I love the pureness and the love and joy our kids show this time of the year. I love that Santa brings the Christmas spirit of giving to the world. I truly respect and love that Jesus is here for us and makes us remember that this season is the time for love and joy and a time to share how much the Lord has blessed us and made us a family. I love the Lord and I love that he gave his son for our sins. At this time of the year I pray to him a lot thanking him for all that he has done for me and my family. My life is very blessed and I thank him for allowing me to be a father of two a husband, and a son and son-in-law. I also love being an Uncle to 6 awesome kids... Their faces in the pictures and the movies tell such a story... a story of kids that know they are loved and cared for. Life is so awesome. Thank you Jesus for what I call my life... Merry Christmas all!

Christmas Eve 2010 and Fun

Jayden loved Christmas Eve and playing with his Grandparents and Rockford and Maverick this year. Jayden and Maverick seemed to play well together and Rocky is one of those kids who is so kind and gentle with the younger boys. Which it was a great thing for Jayden who likes to be around fun kids and the cousins are just that.

The day started well and then of course their was snow time on the quad.... which he still loves.

The night started with Jayden and Kallee singing Jingle Bells.

Jayden then got one of the best presents ever, the pillow pet. Which he is sleeping with right now... It has replaced his normal pillow and I believe it will be a mainstay for a long time.

The next best one had to have been the balloons that Grandpa Lee had to blow up, then re-blow up, then blow up again.

Jayden and I are kin when it comes to this time of the season. We both love it. First it started with the decoration of the house with the lights and then the decoration of the Christmas tree in the front window. I must say that Jayden and Kallee did a great job with the decorations.

Jayden also loves to play in the snow. The cousins invited Jayden to go sledding this year and we ended up at Canyon Lakes and were out there for almost 2 hours. He went up and down the hill and had a great time. We got him a bigger sled this year and he has been sliding down the slop on the side of our house. He also takes his quad out in the snow and drives it around the yard.

He tried the bike on the ice, but that did not work as he fell 3 times and was mad at me. He is already pretty much mastered the riding of his bike without training wheels so when the sun is out again he will be ready to go(side note, he had Grandpa Lee out riding the bike yesterday). But now that the snow is here and still here, it is all about breaking icicles, and making snowmen, and playing until daddy is had enough.
This year was a unique one in terms of Thanksgiving as we had to move it back until Saturday. Alison was not feeling well so we had our first Saturday Thanksgiving. It went very well and was the first for Wyatt Dean in our house. He did a wonderful job sleeping. The kids had a great time and the food actually turned out very well. Jayden did a great job eating this year as he liked the Jell-o and the apple pie a lot.

Jayden had a Thanksgiving play and it went very well and Jayden was one of the bright spots. He has grown up so much in the past year as he is not as squirrely this year. But he is still one of the world’s worst dawdlers. It takes forever for him to get ready and it is worst as the winter months hit with all the extra clothes. He constantly has to be reminded to get ready and get his clothes on and get his coat on,,,, etc….. Plus right now it is a fight to get him to school. Jayden is a very sensitive child, so I am worried that the kids are picking on him because he is worried that the children will “make fun of him”. Yet when he gets there it is a trial to get him out, so I am hoping this is just a phase.
But even that has yet to deter from my sons good attitude. He always seems upbeat and loves to spend morning time with his mommy. On the weekends, Jayden and Mommy spend some time together while my daughter and I sleep. (at least that is what my guilty conscience says).
The things that I will remember about Jayden at this time are many. He loves to set up all his hot wheels (and I mean all of them) in a certain order and then leave them out forever if I do not tell him to put them away. He wants to use the entire train track when we build things. He always likes to take out everyone of his toys in the garage. It is almost like he feels sorry for the ones that are not being played with. He loves the Quad and burying it in a snow drift so that he can pull it out. He has my growl and uggh down as well as his “okayaay”. He says “Holey Moley” just like his mom. And he takes good care of his little sister Kallee. He likes ricola cough drops and loves his mommy’s pancakes. He loves watching the Christmas specials and he goes to his room to play on the computer at pbs.kids.org and cool-math games.

Jayden, Kallee, mommy and daddy drove last night what A & E call "one of the top 10 Lighted Parades in the US. The Sunnyside Christmas Parade in Sunnyside WA. It was a blast and Jayden and I who LOVE Chirstmas lights were very excited to see it. It was a blast. We had a great time, the parade had so many cool things such as tractors, big rigs, old cars, floats, and even horses and dragsters. The Coca-Cola truck was impressive, as was the Rudolf truck and the many many Santas.

Let me start this diatribe off by saying this.
Thank you pales in comparison to your true emotions.
This is the time of the year where I like to sit back and reflect about what makes my life what it is. To think and to say Thank you to those who have made life as wonderful as it is. My Wonderful life.
To the two sets of Grandparents/Parents, who go out of their way to make life so easy for my family. To Four People who have taken their time and energy to show us love and make sure that we have a strong base of love and fellowship in which to build our family on. Who take our two children and show them what pure love really is. To the 4 people who only want the best for us, Thank you.
To my wife, who took 4 days of work and made our house feel more like a home. To a person who loves me and our children with undaunted loyalty and commitment. Who, to be frank about it, puts up with me. To my wife, who is my best friend, who I love more and more every day. To the person whom I want to share the rest of my life with, Thank you.
To Jayden,
Who finds everything an adventure in which there is something good to come of whatever we are doing at the time. To the boys who helped me in the pitch dark put lights up. Who, in the span of 10 minutes, opened and reopened the door for his sister over 29 times so she could go in and out of the house, because Kallee is used to having her way, but can never seem to know what she really wants. (Note to Kallee, someday you should say thank you to your older brother who really does put up with you, especially when your mommy and daddy (especially daddy) have grown tired of your tirades.
To a boy who dawdles constantly and moves around even more. To a big brother who shares his candy with his sister because he knows that candy is one of his little sisters true love. To a person who is closer to his mommy than anyone else in the world. To the boy who seems to have endless friends at school how are genuinely happy to see him. To the child who started our path to having a family. I thank you for being just who you are.
To Kallee,
To the person who runs up to my legs when she sees me and hugs me and smiles her smile. To my daughter who is the pure definition of “daddy’s girl”. To the girl who is not afraid to tell me no, which she does often. To the girl who has the best laugh and puts smiles on faces everywhere she goes. To a lovely daughter who is so cranky if she is woken up before her nap is truly over,,, which is SOOO me.
To a girl who wants to be so much a part of her brother’s life and loves being around him. To a girl who wants to stay in her PJ’s all day and throws a fit when she has to take them off… (See her mother for that one). To the girl who makes sure you are paying attention to her by climbing up and putting her nose on yours to make sure you have full attention on her. Thank you Kallee, for completing our family.
And now to another reason why I write this:
It is to tell my children about the other Matriarchs of the family and their roles in our lives.
Note: Side trail….. My Family, and mostly it is my fault, are hermits most of the time. I have no problem hanging out with my family and not leaving the house for days. I do not go out of my way to engage in social interacting because I have everything I need by hanging out with my family with a few exceptions… such as…
I want to thank a few people who I will truly go out of my comfortable world and truly enjoy their presence and relish the times we get to spend with each other. The family.
To the Antie Grandmas and the Uncle Grandpas to my Children and myself and Alison, what joy you bring to our lives. You bring energy and joy in bundles to refill my “Low Energy” cup. You give “acceptance” without effort and you make sure everyone knows what it means to be part of a family. It shows that you think of my family often and you care for us, which is always evident every time we are together. To the people who knew, KNEW, how much traditions mean to me and were so thoughtful as to send me something that I call “pure joy”. To those who made the “happiness” with their own hands, I want to thank you. I LOVE LEFSA!!! Love it, Love it, Love it. Thank you.

Jayden and his first sport ever

Jayden Got to play his first sport ever this fall. He played socccer. He was,,,, well 4. And for a 4-year old, he was ok. Jayden liked playing with his cousin Jonah who was the stud of the team. He was really really good and scored most of the goals. Jayden never scored himself but he did pass the ball to Jonah to score so I consider my son a "playmaker". It was a great thing because he liked it and he got be part of something special which was Upward Soccer. http://www.upward.org/

Jayden liked playing a lot and being part of the team. Only once did I have to leave because I made my son frustrated so I hid behind the concessions for the rest of the game and he was happy. Jayden may not have like the soccer itself all the time. But he liked getting ready and running around and his coach and all of his friends. He was a happy guy. Kallee loved it to as she got a pumpkin scone from Starbucks. Both Jayden and Kallee loved playing at the soccer field and hanging out with both sets of grandparents. Plus all of the cousins,

This week was Halloween and it was a blast. We went Saturday to The Country Mercantile. It was a great time. We played in the corn maze.. Jumped of the Hay pyramid, and ate and played on the Air Toyrs and the Airplane and rode the Train and the Hayride to the pumpkin patch and ate, and ate.. and well had a great time. The Country Mercantile is a fabulous place with great food and great time. The tacos were AWESOME and I loved the homemade potato chips while Jayden loved the homemade Hotdogs and I loved the Sausage dogs. Alison also loved the homemade tacos and we could have stayed there all day if not for the freezing and the rain. Kallee of course loved the Cotton Candy. We cot a Pumpkin and brought it home and make Jack-o-Lanterns. Mommy made pumpkin seeds that are delicious and we just had a great time. I love the holidays because I become young too. My son and daughter (but especially my son) loves this time of the year. His teachers at his Monissory School (Childrens Garden), have done such a great job with all holidays and for that I am grateful. Jayden his excitable and happy and loves adventure and stories and anything that causes him to be excited. So this month with pumpkins and and candles and his Batman costume and his Seahawk outfit and soccer uniform and just being able to run around.... for Jayden life is sweet.

Jayden and Kallee just finished trick-or-treating with Mommy as Daddy stayed home and gave out Candy. It really went well and Jayden and Kallee came home with way, way, way too much Candy. Daddy will have to resolve that issue by borrowing pieces here and there.

It has been a great October and I am Very thankful to Family, Soccer and The Great Pumpkin. (Snoopy and Charlie Brown have made coming and going from school very enjoyable.)

Jayden Gebers and The big Blasts at the End of the Summer

Jayden had a very busy end of the Summer. We went to fishhook with the cousins and then went to Robbie and Allison’s Wedding. That was a lot of fun because they had fun houses and toys to play with along with a great dance floor where Jayden broke out the funky moves.
The next weekend we took off to Portland and had a great time. Jayden loves OMSI in downtown Portland. http://www.omsi.edu/. There are many things to look at plus a great place for the young kids to play that Include Water Play, Blocks, Sand Play, Legos, Flubber play, legos, art, and Air play with tubes and balls. Plus there is another area with Cranes and levers and all of that. It was a great time and Jayden was really having a good time when we ruined his life by leaving. He has become what I like to call a cry-pouter, which really does drive me crazy. I lose it a times when he does that kind of thing, especially when I know it is coming… uggh.
But we will definitely visit the place again sometime in the future.

We also hit the Portland Zoo. http://www.oregonzoo.org/ They do a very nice job of having little plays with the animals and it has a great vast number of animals. We have a good time there when we go.
After that it was time to spend time on the beach in Seaside, OR. We stay at a hotel called Rivertide Suites which is awesome. Plus it is really close to a restaurant called Mc Keown’s. http://www.mckeownsrestaurant.com/ If you are looking for HomeMade Fries or a great Salmon, and the Burgers are great too, well go there. Be ready to be social because they are a little on the slow side, but we love the food and that is the reason to go.
Jayden, who is a creature of habit, made sure that every morning we did the same thing which is to ride the Carousel in the middle of a shopping mall. Then we hit the Toy store where he would play with the Thomas the Tank Engine trains and tracks. We would then proceed to the Video game store where would play bingo by rolling a little rubber ball or 25 cents a game. We would then walk to the beach and then back to the room to eat lunch.
The afternoon was reserved for the beach and we would have a blast. One time Jayden took Truck we bought and pushed it all over the beach and into the surf and then back out. Next time we made a sand mountain to drive on and then we made trails and a bridge. Finally we took a little plastic Jet Ski toy out into the waves and threw it out and tried to catch it when the wave brought it back. We got into the waves and was not afraid and loved running in and out of the waves. We also went to Cannon Beach and had a good time on the sand. We of Course ate at Moe’s.. Great Chili and Clam Chowder, and just a fun place to eat and hang out at, plus a great view of the beach. www.moschowder.com
Jayden also loved his time in the pool at both Portland and the Rivertide Suites. He loves adventure and playing so this vacation was exactly what he wanted. Plus Grandpa and Grandma Gebers came so that made it even better. He got to do twice as much with 4 people.
This week was the Fair and again Jayden could not be more excited. He got to go on kids day and ran all over the place. He walked the parade with other kids and Jonah and Kallee. Then he when the candy find in the hay and then it was time to see the animals and of course, my favorite the tractor pull. Jayden at 4 made the first pull of 25 feet and then in the finals he was doing great but got distracted with the trailer the tractor was pulling and lost momentum or I think he would have hit the mark again.
He got to ride some rides and hang out with his mom and cousins and Grandma Gebers. We went back that night and I got to watch him do so many things on his own. He did the Free Fall Drop ride with Jonah, Dawson, Madeline, and loved it. He did the Roller Coaster and got kicked off with Dawson, then did the mirror Castle and figured the way out first before anyone else. He of course did the Bungee Jump thing many times as he loves going high and just jumping. I loved the fact that Rick Springfield was playing so I got to hear his concert. That was great.
We also went to Mondays Demolition Derby and watch those drivers crash and drive and blow radiators, and drive trains, and trannys, tires, and had to be carted off. The Cars also had a beauty contest and they shoot water and candy at the crowd and I have to tell you it was a blast. We got great seats and Jayden was screaming and yelling and having a blast. (Where we stayed was upstairs in the box seats, so it buffered much of the sound and that made it great because when Jayden went outside he did not like the sound very much).

At the start of this School year Jayden is 44.2 Inches tall and weighs over 48 pounds. He Should be starting Soccer soon so it will be his first organized sport… I am a little nervous, but if my brother survived it, I should be okay.

Jayden loves to be with his cousins... loves loves, loves, loves it. He loves when the cousins invite him out to the River and to a park. We spent a day last week out at Fish Hook Park. It is a nice area where you can do some water stuff such as fish and ski and swim. Jayden and Kallee had a really good time there and Jayden loved to jump off the boat and into the river. He also played with friends and on the rocky beach and swim area. He was very happy and loved being there.

After Dropping Kallee Boo's off at Grandma Gebers, Jayden and I went down to the Columbia River and watched the Columbia Cup Hydroplane Races. Jayden loved the Columbia River. He got to play in it while the Hydroplanes drove by. The Unlimited Hydros , are in town and were showing off quite a show, hitting speeds over 170-180 miles an hour. The Best of the boats were Oh Boy Oberto and The Spirit of Quatar.

Jayden liked the boats But loved the shaved Ice and the Columbia River. He never wanted to leave the water. I got some great pic of the boats and the are in the show below.

Jayden loves to just do things, and go on new adventure. It was good to be able to just spend time with alone. He is so much fun when he gets to just be allowed to be himself. He is a show unto himself. He got to follow up the boat races by spending time with his cousins, so overall Jayden loved today.

The Trip 20 Seattle as well as summer fun and Thomas the Tank Engine

Jayden and I and Kallee and Alison have had a great time this summer so far. Each Day we hit another adventure. We go to different parks in the Tri Cities area and we love to hangout and do water play. (Jayden loves to do anything that has to do with water.) Jaydens parks that he has the most fun at are:

And loves to go up Badger Mountian with Grandpa Lee and Mommy.

and of course Boyd and Emily's family aquatic and fun center.

Jayden is also doing swimming at "qwill's" house. Qwill is actually Will's house in Pasco. He loves swim lessons and wants to go everyday. He also wants to play with his cousins everyday and they have been very nice to allow Jayden to hang out with them. The aquatic fun center in Hermiston or the "dump park" as Jayden called it is so good for the kids.

We also as a Family went to Seattle last weekend. Jayden, Alison, Kallee, and I had a great start by hitting snowqualmie washington to do the Day out with Thomas. It was a good time and you got to see the huge falls and the beautiful area. Jayden and Kallee like the train ride and loved to play trains.

The next day was the aquarium and the pikes market experience where he got to see the "painted and no clothes wearing bikers" as well as eating fruit and seeing the fish. But we may not go back for a while because Jayden did not like that it was smelly.

But Jayden did love the hotel and sleeping in the same bed with Mommy. He also loved going on walks with mommy to Bellevue Square mall and riding escalators. He liked eating at Pizza at Pagliacci's, and Cheesecake Factory.

Jayden loved going up and down and the elevator at the Space Needle. He loved playing the guitar and the drums at the Seattle Music Expereince. And was scared of the dinosaurs at the Seattle science exibit and the Pacific Science Center.

Jayden really loved playing in the pool as the Silver Cloud with his Mommy. Jayden and mommy definitely have more energy than daddy as he goes and takes naps with Kallee. Jayden says he really loves shopping, but he likes to walk around more than the shopping part. He loves doing elevators and escalators. He is hard to corral at large places as he always is on the go, he hates to stop for more than 5 seconds. We have to constantly say Jayden STOP!!!. Because he cannot stand in one position too long. That makes for a long and fast ride but at least he does not make life boring.

The great part of Jayden is he really can have a great time doing almost everything if you just make it an adventure. He loved watering plants and picking raspberries at Grandma and Grandpa Lee's and the Gebers. He loves playing outside with Kallee and he gets along very well with his sister, except when she tells them "go away!". She hurts a lot of peoples feelings with this, but I am immune to her words. Jayden is very sensitive in feelings as well as his senses. So she does hurt his feelings. But she always says sorry JJ and gives him hugs.

Jayden really cannot wait to do more adventures like going up Badger Mountain with his Grandpa Lee and Mommy, as well as hitting the aquatic center with anyone who will take him to going to Rosie's to playing in water. Jayden is just waiting for the next grand adventure. He is a great kid.

Jayden has had a very eventful couple of weeks. Jayden loved going up to Conconully and hanging out with his cousins and extended family. He loved being out in the nature and playing with trucks and the hills and the trees. Cole and Jayden pitched for one team in kick ball and it was great. Our son had the best time. Mommy took him on walks and he got to watch movies and stay at hotels. He was sad when we had to come home but that is life.
Jayden is working with insects at school and he is bringing home some pretty interesting projects. He made me a keychain which is now hanging on my car keys as we speak. Jayden is getting very strong with his numbers and is getting better with his letters. He is also coloring inside the lines (mostly) and is relaying his thoughts and emotions much better.
Jayden still loves anything that is and adventure. He loves to do new things and be part of something. He is still shy and likes to be around people he is comfortable with.
Jayden and I still make a lot of train tracks with his GeoTrax’s. He likes to build and play with them. He also loves to sleep in his “sick” bed which is under a table in our room. I not sure how long we will let that keep happening, but for now we are okay with it. He is still a very accommodating brother to a sister who is very bossy and aggressive.
This week we had to take Jayden in for some cavity fillings. And when I say fillings I mean 9. They had to put him under to work on that many teeth. They gave him some medication that allowed him to stay under during the procedure and he was done in about 2 hours. The dentist is awesome and is from Columbia Pediatric Dentistry. It would definitely be my choice for a dentist as they have video games and trains and toys…. That is cool. The Dentist was Dr. Walker and he was great. If after the fillings, Jayden still likes going to the Dentist. He was groggy and a little sleepy when he came home, but by 4ish he was back to himself.

Jayden and Grandpa Lee took some time this Saturday to climb Badger Mountain. As we come to expect with our son he exceeded expectations. He made it to the top of the mountain. It is like anything he sets his mind to he accomplishes. With the help of Grandpa Lee, topped another mountain in his life. Jayden loves adventures and this was one more awesome adventure.

Jayden also had his meeting with Kennewick School District to see how he was doing and maybe see if he could use some added help. What we found out was exactly what I already new. We have a son who exceeds standards and is very bright for his age. He is physically above average as well. His balance is fine and he did everything asked of him. I believe that the staff there were a little bit surprised we brought him in at all. Alison said that Jayden answered the questions and was very good during the whole time.

Alison loves to talk about how she thinks her son is perfect and she is right. He is perfect for our family. He is exactly who he should be. He makes life exciting and he really loves to have adventures.

Jayden's 4th Birthday

Jayden has been so fortunate this year as he has been able once again to finagle more than one Birthday out of his family. First Grandma and Grandpa Lee set up a Birthday Party for him with his cousins Rocky and Maverick. They had a great time and Jayden was so thrilled with the Thomas the tank engine toys. Grandma and Grandpa Lee always have great get together and Jayden said he had a great time.

Then on Sunday when he had a birthday party,,, he got two. He got to go to his friends Chase's Birthday party in the morning at Chuck-e-Cheese. Jayden has found out that he likes that place and cannot wait to go again and play on the toys and the games and... well everything about the place.

Jayden then came home to have his own birthday party.

Jayden's Birthday Party Pics

It started off great as we opened presents for all of the cousins and they got lego pump cars to race. The kids did a great job making their cars (with the help of some of the adults) and then they got to race them against each other. We then had an early dinner and opened presents and had cupcakes and Ice Cream. Jayden was very lucky to get so many lego toys and puzzles and a truck that he can pull apart and put back together. I like the legos as I have gotten to make already 4 different lego cars, but my favorite is always the GeoTracks as I get to make new tracks with Jaydens help. Actually I should have Jonah over more as he is fantastic with Legos and creation of GoeTracks. Dawson is not far behind. I am also proud to say that we were the first people to give both Kallee and Madeline lego's. Good for us.

It was a great time.

It is amazing to think that Jayden is starting his 4th year with us. He has been so great to have in our lives. If we ever get boggled down with the monotonous and the same day old things we have to do. We only have to look at our son and see something special. We get to See someone who really sees life as one adveture after another. What a great feeling to know that life can be exciting. He cam make anything that he is doing fun. I love that about him. It can get frustrating at times when he is putting on his clothes or picking up his toys... but in the end he gets it done.

I will talk more about his meeting at school in the next blog, but they kiddos are waking up so I better be ready.. Probably should have taken a nap...

He weighed in at 44 pounds (95%) and 43 inches (95%). He was not happy about the 4 shots, but took full advantage of the prizes (2 suckers and 3 stickers). When he got to school, he dropped his pants (pants and underwear) to show his friends his band aids. Nakedness, apparently is still not a big deal to him.

Jayden and Turning 4 years old

Yesterday was Jayden’s Birthday and it was what you want as a little Boy. You wake up after spending a good time with your cousins and your Grandparents. You get a Pumpkin scone and Thomas the Tank Engine toys.

Then you go to school and are in a play where you are a bird, you play with sticks and you sing about your bones. Then you go home with your other Grandparents and get to play with more cousins. You get Pizza and cake and more lego toys and sand toys and you are just happy.

As a father you cannot express the gratitude I feel with my extended family. My son is spoiled in love and no one deserves it more. He is a kind decent and happy boy.

He is the kind of Boy that likes to have a “Sick Bed” at the foot of his parents bed so that those tough nights he can come in and lie on the made bed under a table and sleep with his mommy and daddy.

He is the kind of boy that loves stay at home day, so he can play with his father mother. He likes to be around his family which is so great. He does not think we are boring, but another soul to play Lincoln logs or legos with.

One night while watching TV he saw people dancing, and he and Kallee put on one amazing dance show for Alison and me. It was so much fun we kept rewinding the song so they would keep dancing.

He is also getting so much better at expressing his feelings. I told him one time that he had to stop what he was doing to wash his hands and go to the bathroom. He said “I hate my daddy, he is mean”. Some people would be upset… but I was happy, because this is a stepping stone. He has never been good at expressing negative feelings with his words so this is big. I understood that he was just mad at me and not “hating” me. But he describe what he was feeling and that is important. It shows maturity and growth. I am so proud of him. More will come after we have his Birthday Party on Saturday.

The ups and downs of the three year old,..Jayden Ryan and his trials

Jayden Ryan Gebers is a gift. Some people look at their child as something they paint and create into an image that they deem acceptable. Luckily I am not one of those people. I love helping my son create himself into the person god wants him to be. Sure I am not always appreciative of the molding and carving going on in the clay that is my son Jayden. But as I watch him grow into the young boy that he is, I do smile.

But sometimes their are ruts in the clay that need to be cut and remolded. This past month, those ruts have been huge gaps. Jayden had one of those days that can really make a parent go crazy. But I was amazed at well I had handled the situation that had happened at the school that day. What I was not prepared for was what was going to happen that night. Jayden was at a friends house and during that time he was playing around the dining room table and knocked off the glass top and it broke into many many pieces. I was crushed and was devastated. I knew that when I take my son places that I have to watch him because he is such a ball of energy that I try to keep him from doing something that can cause injury or breakage. He is not a mean kid nor is he deceptive or abusive... but he is so big and not always mindful of the surroundings.

I know all of this, but the biggest issue was that for the first time ever I felt ashamed of him. It lasted too long as I had what people like to call an episode.

The important thing to know is that I did not yell at him and everyone involved only showed love to my son and wanted to protect him. They see the sweetness and innocence and positive outlook that my son gives to people. I also know that my love for him never diminished or wavered.

What did happen is that my acceptance of what kind of person my son is. He is someone that believes that everything and I mean everything can be an adventure. We go to the car wash, adventure, we go to the dump adventure. No one is more excited to see his cousins then Jayden. No one makes instant friends everywhere he goes like Jayden. He is a ball of energy that makes me tired alot.... oh and very happy. I like staying home with him. I love that he still likes his binky's. That he still sleeps with the same blanket he loved as a child. That he has a train track that has at least 150 pieces set up on it in his bedroom. I love that his imagination allows him to play without anyone else. I love the fact that when he plays Hot Wheels with his mommy it is to set up the 60 plus cars in a color coordinated line. I love that he makes Grandma Gebers play Legos with him and Grandpa Lee has to chase him around the block on his bike.

I love that he wants to play computer games with Grandma Lee and he shares his candy with his chocolate hogging sister. And how he wants a sick bed at the end of ours so that he has someone to go when he is not feeling well.

I learned that even I sometimes want Jayden to be something that he is not, and I learned that I was wrong... what I want is not what is best for him. Alison and I love Jayden with unconditional love, which is good because he loves us more than maybe we deserve. Many people could learn a thing or two from Jayden; how to make friends, how to see the adventure in life, how to be excited about garbage and how to get rid of it..... He is not perfect by any means and he needs you to be ready to be on your feet... but he sees you as someone to love... and play with... trains are best... and he wants to let all of you know that he wants to see you at the beach this summer....

Jayden and a Great Christmas Season

Jayden is the perfect kid for the Christmas Season. He loves new things and he loves tradition and he loves the holidays. Jayden is great for us because we can do things that make him happy which in turn gives us pleasure.
Jayden was very happy during the Holiday season as he got to go new friend?s house like the Looney?s (Dana and Candi), and was lucky to get to spend the night at Grandpa and Grandma Gebers House. He played with his Cousins and met many new friends at the playgrounds. Jayden does not know strangers only new friends. That makes him very popular with the other children.
Jayden also loved to spend time of the ?Christmas Bed?. It was the Hide a Bed in our Family Room. Mommy suggested it and she pulled it out and then she and Jayden made Popcorn. (Though Jayden will not eat popcorn, he loves to make it.).
We watched the Grinch with Jim Carey and also Videos of Phineas and Ferb?s Christmas Story and Prep and Landing along with the Classics; Frosty, Charlie Brown, and others.
Everything that deals with Christmas Jayden Loves. From decorating his own tree to putting up the lights, to snow, to presents. Jayden and Kallee are very good about leaving the main tree alone and Jayden only takes the Candy Canes of his and Kallee?s tree when appropriate. He is so much fun to take places because he gets so excited and enjoys the moment. I love him very much for who he is and what he does.
Jayden was spoiled by his Grandparents and Santa, earning Clothes and Lincoln Logs, Geo Trax?s, Candy Land, Legos and many other things. He has played with them all and definitely loves to play all of them a lot. We play with his presents almost every night. Mom and Dad have to be Mater though and Jayden is always lighting McQueen with the GeoTrax?s. I love building the Tracks with Jayden. Alison gets to play cars with Jayden but she only gets to put the cars in a line and in the order of color? that is a mother?s job.

He has made also some of the best Thomas the Tank engine tracks,,, they are huge and can take up most of his room. He is talented in the art of building and creating? not so much in the art of picking up.

As the Christmas season passes I get more depressed because this is the tough time of the year. Not much time to play outside and not much to look forward too. The days are short and Jayden is not always a fan of being inside. We have to wait until March till we get back into the party grove. He will be 4 then and even if I do not know what his party theme will be, there will be trains involved somehow.
He is still growing and is starting to push past 5T. He tries to wear 4T PJ?s every once in a while and he looks like he is wearing the new style of College BBall Jerseys; tight.

His favorite shirt right now is his ?hockey shirt? which is really his Seahawks Jersey. Hopefully next year with Pete Carroll he can proud of wearing the jersey.

Jayden and the Christmas Train

The Christmas Train
Jayden, Kallee, Alison and myself made trip this weekend to Toppenish WA, to play with trains. Not just a few trains, but many, many trains.
There were models of The Polar Express, the Hogwarts Train, and Many more. They have a set-up of an old sleeping coach and a caboose. They also allow you to ride on a train and see Santa Claus on another Train.

We stayed there for a few hours and it was a lot of fun. Kallee did pretty well and Jayden definitely did not want to leave. It is close enough to the Tri-Cities that it makes for a very nice day drive and the kids are not totally bored in the car.
Jayden has been enjoying the season. He loves the Trains that we visit and he loved playing with the Reindeer and Beaver Bark. Grandma and Grandpa Lee joined us and we had our hands full trying to keep Jayden from disappearing into the maze of Christmas Trees. Jayden is having a hard time still with obeying rules that keep him from moving at maximum effort. I am trying to put down some simple and short rules and move up to the bigger ones. He is so excitable that he forgets sometimes where he is and what he is doing. But he is getting better about things like putting his dish away and helping to put his PJ?s and clothes on. He tries to be very helpful and is still very sweet to a pushy and overbearing little sister. He shows kindness and mercy to her, and she repays him with a sense of hero worship. They are quite a pair.
One of the great things about Jayden is definitely the way he looks at life. He is such a happy child. He wants to be happy. He wants to have an adventure every day. One of the greatest compliments was given to my wife from Kelli Templeton whose daughter Hanna works with Jayden in Sunday School. Hanna told her mother that she enjoyed Jayden so much because he is always happy and full of joy. As a parent you need to hear those types of thoughts, you need to know that your child is happy. And you need to hear it from someone like a Miss Templeton who is honest and forthright. That makes me feel good, because I want my children to see joy in life, and children that appreciate Sunday School. It was a great weekend.

Jayden is learning how to be more helpful around the house. He is not as bad about cleaning up his toys and did a great job helping me set up the Christmas lights at our house. Jayden and I went a little crazy this year with the lights but it was nice to get out of the house and enjoy the outside.
He does a good job getting things ready and he loves the lights. This month we will take different ways home so he can look at other people?s houses and see how they decorated them.
Jayden has enjoyed school so far and we have been so fortunate to have Teachers in his room that adapt to Jayden and allow him to learn. They do not let him get away with much which is awesome. Jayden needs boundaries for his own good. This makes him feel secure.
Jayden had a good Thanksgiving and loved hanging out with his cousins. He enjoys being with family.
Jayden also helped make a Care Package for Operation Christmas Child. He loved doing it but was very sad when I told him we could not visit the child because he was too far away. He is a sweet boy.
Jayden, Jonah and Dawson were very helpful in working with the Lights at Grandpa and Grandma Gebers house and made sure that Grandpa Lee had a lot more lights to hang up this year at the Grandma Lee?s House.
Jayden helped decorate His and Kallee?s Christmas Tree and loves playing with the Planes and Trains ornaments.
He loves this season of lights and frolic and parties and fun. He is the perfect kids for Christmas time because everything is exciting and he gets so amped by all that is done. It is great to have him around during this season.

It was one of the best years I can remember. The kids have grown and have become little people. Kallee has been a huge blessing and has made life very enjoyable. ? Halloween and the awesome costumes and the bundles of Candy Jayden came home with.

? The times that Jayden and Kallee have spent with their Cousins? they are great with our kids and make Jayden and Kallee very happy

? Our Summer Lunches at Rosie?s Diner
? My father?s tender love and care for our daughter.
? Both sets of grandparents for all they do for Jayden and Kallee
? Boyd and Emily inviting us over for fun and water play and 4th of July which was great this year except for the fireworks.
But the best, very best part of the year was going to the beach and the Zoo. I do not think I could have asked for a better time. The kids were so in awe of everything and loved walking around and enjoying the scenes. The Zoo was exciting, the Beach was calm and restful and Seaside provided so many fun things to do including, trains, merry-go-rounds, visit to the doctor, the very lovely suite and all the amenities, the beach, which really was so fun watching Kallee dig and Jayden running in and out of the ocean, the food, the taffy, the old time soda, the overall feel of a true vacation. When you can go on and trip and when everyone leaves thinking that they could stay a few more days,,, that is a true vacation. So many great memories this year? so much fun, 2009 was one to remember.

Jayden and Halloween

This was one of the best days ever. Jayden had a wonderful time at the Harvest Party. Jayden climbed to the top of the hay pyramid, shot the corn cannon, made a jack-o-lantern, rode the hay ride through the pumpkin patch, observed the kangaroo/wallaby mix, zebra, turkeys, pigs, goats, donkey, and goat. Jayden led us through the corn maze where we ended up taking "short cuts" and ended back at the beginning in time for a quick potty break. Jayden and I could have had fun in there for over 30 minutes to an hour... He loves the problem solving and he loves to be able to run freely. It is a great time. He figured out the hail bail puzzle one in one minute flat.

Halloween night was an absolute blast... running from house to house finding so much candy... then tackling cousins and watching a charlie brown halloween special, the great pumpkin.

I think that this tradition of hitting up these corn mazes and harvest festivals will continue in our family. Someday mommy and daddy will not be allowed to go because we will "cramp" his style and he will go after our bedtime,,,, but for now Mommy is the best friend a boy can have... and daddy drives him to Mcd's so that is cool too.

Jayden and the Fall

Jayden has had a tough past two months. He has been inundated with many different ailments and has survived one of the nastiest flu viruses around. (Not sure if it was swine flu, but it sure felt like it to him). He has missed many days of school and has been ill most of the past two months.

But he is finally healthy and at the right time too. Because it is getting into the holiday seasons.

Jayden has been doing great at school and it has to do with his new classroom. His teacher are so good and have seen what Jayden can do and how smart he can be. They also recognize that Jayden has A LOT of energy and do not allow him to get bored.

Jayden likes going to school and especially likes Fridays when he can play with legos. He likes building thing and legos are right up his alley. Jayden is also becoming quite the cook, helping mommy make dinner many times and is getting to the point where he could start making dinner himself... in about 3 years or so..

Jayden loves also to ride his bikes as he is getting so good. He rarely falls now and he is getting to the point were we need to get our bikes ship shape to keep up with him. Though he is not quite ready for the training wheels to come off.

He has had an issue with the word No. He likes to say it alot. We are working with on that and not telling mommy No. He is getting better and that is all we ask. He is such a great brother as he includes Kallee in things and wants her to be happy. I will talk more later and add pics.

Jayden and His Fall

Jayden has had an interesting last month. We took Jayden to two different doctors this past month because of issues with his breathing and allergies. Their was some good news and bad news.

Jayden has food allergies. The allergies are in the Nuts arena. He has severe reactions to Tree Nuts and also has some reactions to peanuts as well. We have had to learn to use an eppe pin. We have had to leave them all over the place, at his school, his grandparents, anywhere he frequents a lot.

It is hard for a parent to see a child limited in what he can do or what he can eat. It is also something that you have to think about all the time. When Jayden gets older and understands this allergy it will get easier, but for now we always have to be on guard to make sure that Jayden is fine. The good news is that many of the schools and churches are aware of the severity on the allergy. The school has him sit with another person at lunch with a similar allergy and at church he is designated with special tag to show people his allergy.

The other issue for poor Jayden is that he is attracted to viruses and gets ill very easily. He got sick the first week in September and was down and out for a while.

When Jayden gets sick he rarely shows an outward appearance of being sick. We have to watch for the signs. This time the big sign is when he projectile vomited all over the family room at my parents. Not very subtle, but effective. He had weezing an coughing the next night and could not sleep. His breathing gets so labored and he chest fills with fluids very quickly. We had to get him a Nebulizer Machine and he has been prescribed steroids take for his lungs.

But with Jayden, something like this will not slow him down. He will not be upset by it or be affected by it. He will just go on living life as a happy little boy.

I do know that he is enjoying his day at school a lot more this year. He loves playing with the Legos and he seems to be transitioning into the standards set by the teachers well. At least I hope that is true.

As for playing, which of course is Jayden's favorite thing to do. He loves riding his bikes, he enjoys playing with his trains and he is starting to want Kallee around him so that he can play with her too.... They are starting to become quite a little pair.

Jayden time with the Animals and the Beach

Sometimes, you talk about something so much that there are these high expectations. And these expectations when making them with your family become HUGE. So huge that you are worried that it will fall well short.

Those were the expectations of our last family adventure. An Adventure to Portland and the beach. And I have to admit I was very surprised how it went.

First our Daughter Kallee who is not a fan of trips, did awesome and slept most of the way. Next our son who travels awesomely, did is normal awesome best. We stopped at the McD's in Troutdale which was great, big toys and had a good time. Then we went shopping at the outlet mall. (Boring for everyone but Grandma Lee and Mommy). And then hit the hotel. We ate at BJ's Pizza. In Janzen Beach and it was great food, I love their Pizza and their atmosphere and I love that the have Pizzokies. Good stuff... But Kallee, who thrilled all by saying hi and flirting with everyone in the front was losing it in the restaurant, so I had to take her out. Jayden, who did not get a nap in was also in hyperland.. so both went down when we got back to the hotel.

It was Alison's Birthday so Kallee and Jayden got her Starbucks cards and Money for a new Purse... they are very smart Children. She also got Ann Taylor from the Lee's as well as cake decoration supplies and a chance to take classes.

The next day was the Portland Zoo. It was awesome.

Jayden had a blast as did Kallee and Mommy and Daddy. The animals on the other hand looked like many of them could use a big nap. Speaking of missing naps... Jayden did lose it at about 2 and was ready to go. He was over stimulated and started crying, but came around and was back to his ole self by the time we left. He use the potty a lot at the park and was very good about going now in public places. He is getting trained... yea. A big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Lee for hanging out with us those first two days... They were saviors to my sanity.

Jayden and Kallee both fell asleep on the way to Seaside OR. That was a good thing because by the time we got settled in at the hotel. (The Rivertide Suites.. Check out the size of our room!! )

It was time to hit the road for dinner... or was it..... Opps...

Jayden was hungry so he got up on the counter in the kitchen and ate a raisin, oatmeal cookie with walnuts.. The problem was he is allergic to walnuts,, the other problem. we did not know.,

Opps.... so he started to cry right of f the bat and then he started to slurr. Then Alison look at his mouth and it was starting to blister... that is when Jayden, Mommy and I hit the road to the emergency room. Thank goodness for the Providence Heath Hospital in Seaside.. They saw that it was a food allergy reaction and Gave our son Benadryl, and respiratory services, an epie shot, steroids, and an IV... Dr. Opie,,, who was on staff at the time was awesome as were the nursing and specialist there. I cannot thank them enough for all they did in making us feel important and taking such great care of our son.

I have to say they were also very impressed on how cool and tough our son is. Alison was a little frightened and going crazy on the ride there.,.. But Jayden was calm saying things like... My mouth is swollen... I like the Doctor,,., Yes mommy I can still breathe,,, see.... He was drooling and breaking out everywhere and was very tough. Daddy was smart enough to get the movie player out of the car and he watched Finding Nemo, and get this, the room he was in... was decorated in Nemo stuff and he got Nemo stickers. He did not cry with the shots or the breathing of the steriods or having to drink all the drugs.. he only said he was cold when the saline went into the IV.. yes no crying with the IV,, in fact when they took it out, he wanted them to put it back in so he could wear the bandaging again... I love my son...

Grandpa and Grandma Gebers saved us with Kallee as we were at the Hospital for 3 hours. It was a scary expereince... but we so lucky it happened there with so much help and so quickly the nurses and doctors worked, it was a blessing how it worked out.

Jayden recovered in great fashion and we were off to the beach. That was so much fun Kallee and Jayden just played and played. Jayden played with some trucks we picked up at Safeway and he drove them here and there and near and far and into the surf and out of the surf and threw them into the surf and watched them come back to him. One day he wanted to jump waves with me and we could literally go out over 60 yards into the Ocean and it did not go over Jayden's Shoulders. We jump and splashed and got pulled around by the waves and had a blast.

Jayden loved the little train that he could drive and ride and he wanted to much to ride the carousel and just stay down in Seaside forever. The food was good and fun, though one of the best places to eat was very slow, but the food was very good. The Hotel was a perfect place to go for naps and hang out. Grandma Gebers and Mommy went shopping while Kallee, Jayden and I took naps to get ready for the nightlife.

The whole trip, even the bumps, was a complete success. I cannot wait to go to Seaside again. I Love our time there. I know that Jayden did and I know that Jayden wants to go back and we will, he had a great time.

Jayden got to stay with his grandparents (the Gebers) last week as Alison and I went on a trip to Vegas. Jayden had a wonderful time with the Gebers. He went to pools and played at his cousin's. Jayden drew and etched letters and all in all had a wonderful time (and pretty sure he did not miss us too much).

He has been fortunate to get to spend a lot of time with his cousins this summer. Madeline, Jonah and Dawson treat Kallee and Jayden very well, and they all play together great. We are fortunate to spend a lot of time during the summer with Boyd and Emily's family as they always entertain very well.

Madeline had her Birthday last week and it was perfect. I was still feeling the effects of the 100 plus weather, but not Jayden. I think he spent 4 hours outside and only 20 minutes in. He was running and playing and getting wet and having the time of his life.

As for potty training, well it is getting easier and easier. I have to thank my mother and father for all they have done. Dad and Mom got Jayden to go to the bathroom at parks and at restaurants and I have had him use the urinal at Barnes and Nobles and he is getting closer. He still has problems with number 2, but the poop on the yard is lessening and he is starting to go to the toilet without prompting much more.

Grandpa and Grandma Lee also did me a huge favor Tuesday as I got "a day of rest" while they had Jayden and Kallee and had lots of fun. Jayden came home and said he was very happy and liked it very much.

His vocabulary is getting better and he definitely has no problem making quick friends at playgrounds and the water parks.

Today is mow the lawn day and Jayden will drive his lawnmower and I will drive mine.

Jayden's Time to Shine in July... Biking and Playing

Jayden has had a full summer so far. It got even better when his father (that is me) turned 40. Yep a big 40... He got to ride on his new bike... not me but Jayden....

As a forty year old I was supposed to fell different, well too late for that. Trying to do Tennis with a one year old and a three year made me old about 6 months ago. Today I feel not a day over 50..... that is what Kevin Howes son thinks my age is... it is okay.. I feel old... so that is why I get nice young presents like a bicycle for myself.

The next day Jayden went over to Grandma and Grandpa Lee's and Jayden got to ride all over Richland and loved it.

The day after my son gave me another present by vacuuming the downstairs.

The 4th of July was fantastic as we went over to Uncle Boyd and Aunt Emily's house to play with the Gebers, the Sargents, the Biglin's, The Howes, The Youngs and of course The Looney's.

It was a time for water and play and eating and laughing and talking. It was very fun. We also had a fire near our house and Jayden was afraid of the fireworks he had bought, so was his mother... I think I am done with fireworks...

Jayden and a day with Thomas the Tank Engine

Jayden, Alison and I traveled to Hood River to see someone very special. Someone that Jayden has lived with for many years. Starting with movies at Grandma and Grandpa Lee's to our friends Kevin, LeAnn, Nolan and Mason starting Jayden with huge train set... to Daddy going crazy on E-Bay.

Jayden loves trains Thomas and Percy are his friends. So a couple of Saturdays ago Jayden got to ride on Thomas. He was very happy.

They had many things for Jayden to play with and it was a wonderful experience. The downtown part of Hood River was fun to explore and so we did. The shops were fun to window shop on and Jayden found the toy store very enjoyable.

We then headed down to the train station for our day with Thomas. We started with a Nice tattoo session where Jayden picked Percy as his tattoo of choice (Percy is my favorite, Alison likes Salty). We then blew bubbles and headed over to the haybail maze. Jayden solved it with ease, including cheating a little to go faster.. We then hit the jumpy castle and ended up at the animals petting zoo.

Jayden fed goats, sheep, cows, rams making sure that all of the animals were being fed.

We then took a 30 minute tour on the train... We stayed in Claribel. It was nice, Jayden stuck his head out and saw Thomas. We took pictures of Jayden with Thomas and I have to say, they trip was a nice little ride.

This was one of the better adventures we had with Jayden and we cannot wait till next year.

Grandma being cool by taking us to a tree house

We went over to Jerry Marshall's this afternoon to check out the tree
house he built for his grandsons several years ago. Jayden's comment
was that this was a "cool" tree house. Attached are a couple photos of
the tree house along with a couple from our walk around the block.

Jayden had a great time at the beginning of June going to see the pirate ships in the port of Pasco. He was thrilled to see the big ships. We got to tour them and Jayden got to sit behind the wheel of one and at like he was a captain.

Jayden also got to ride in the police boat... all in all a wonderful day. I think that Jayden would want to stay around the boats all day. I was afraid we would end up in the river.

Jayden is out of school now. He is pretty happy so far hanging out with Me and Kallee Boo Boo's. I think though he is looking forward to the apple tree room next year. But he still keeps saying he wants to stay home with daddy... crazy kid.

There was good and bad in this situation. First of all I had to rent out the whole theater... My son can be a distraction while jumping over seats and running in the aisles and moving positions every 4 minutes.

The truth is that we were the only 3 people in the theater. We went to monsters versus aliens. It was in 3D. That did not work very well because Jayden had no Interest in keeping the glasses on. The movie was well somewhat slow which did not help.

But Jayden sat through most of it no problem. It gives us hope for the next time we go.

Here is more good news. We do not have to spend 21 dollars on food, because he is not really interested in popcorn or much anything else... pop on the other hand... very much interested.

Tuesday's are one dollar pop and popcorn day. That will be movie day.

Overall it was good... though the last 5 minutes he was already out the door.... we had to trick him by telling him to sit in as many chairs as possible.... hence the joy we both had when we were the only 3 people in the place.

"Look at my wonderful new bed!" That's what I told Papa and Nana when they opened the door to my new bedroom. I was just laying there enjoying it when they discovered where I went. I had quilting night at the church yesterday so Jayden sat in Papa's lap and read books with him among other things. He made it clear that it was "guys' time together. He's so funny; he picks either one or the other of us and then makes sure everyone knows his/her role at the moment.

Jayden likes to say no a lot. We have had discussions about what he wants and does not want. I do not like that he says no to what we ask, but I am happy that he is responding. I understand why he says it, but what I have to get through to him is that he can be upset and be not happy, but he still needs to pick up his room. `

He loved going to church which is a great sign... the past few times before this he was not as excited, so this is a good step.

Jayden helped plant some red grass as well as a tomato plant and he loves to drive his Quad while I mow the lawn. He also still takes out his lawn mower and follows me around with that too. He really loves being outside. We try to get him out as much as possible.

Alison has been taking the kids for walks at night and I know that Jayden loves it.

Jayden is still a Thomas that tank engine lover. You should watch and listen as he is playing out stories and making Thomas, Percy, Diesel, Murdoch, Toby, Lady, Arry, Bert, Bertie, Alfie, Trevor, Fergus, Annie, and Clarabel come alive in his mind. It is a wonder to watch. He will kind of let you play but he makes the rules when it comes to the island of Sodor...

Jayden could be the toughest person I know. I know he is only three but so far he is not a whiner. I know this because if I had what happened to Jayden last weekend. I would have whined loud and hard.

Jayden did not though and you know why, it is not his style. On Friday Alison and I were discussing how Jayden had had a tough week at school and I heard him cough. I told Alison that Jayden might be S-I-C-K. Jayden has this tendency to be disagreeable with authority when he is not feeling well. I think that is because his barriers that he has up come down and he tells people what he is really thinking about them.

But that will be a discussion for another blog.

Anyway, Saturday Morning he threw up and then he and I went downstairs and watch the movie cars. That is what we do every time he gets sick. I thought he was feeling better by midday, but again I was wrong. Luckily Alison bought two new and very good thermometers on her way home from work. We tried it on him and not very well, (telling a 3 year old to keep it under their tongue even for 6 seconds is a chore). None the less when the thermometer said 103.5 we were in the car in 3 minutes. The place we took Jayden to was somewhat nonchalant getting him in to see someone, because once again, Jayden gave them the impression of someone "not very sick", and we must be "overly protective" parents. It was not until they got a temp of over 104 did they take our boy seriously. (This was after we have given him both Tylenol and Motrin dispersed correctly over the past 20 hours). They tried to cool him down and gave him some Tylenol and wraped cool sheets around him. It was the first time that I saw fear and tears from being sick in my sons eyes... That hurt bad.... It was the first time I held his hand helpless to be anything but a support.

The doctors came in and told us that we could interchange Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever down... (really huh).

They gave me the "I am the doctor please do not do the parent diagnose thing" when I told him that he might have an ear infection. He said that not necessarily does it meant that because Kallee had one that Jayden would have one... Trying to tell the doctor dad that he was a little over his head. He looked in the ear and "low and behold" Jayden had an ear infection. Lets just say that I saw my son go for his ear earlier in the day so I may not be a doctor but I know signs.

So Jayden was happy because for some reason he likes going to the doctor and even though he hates the taste,, he is ready to take the "I sick, I need Medicine" medicine.

This week he even took a pen light flashlight and told Kallee to open her mouth and say ahh. As the ever trying to impress her older brother Kallee opened her mouth and said "ahhh". They are so bright.

So does this mean that I have a future doctor as a son... that would be okay only if he can sit on a curve and bang it into right center for a double.

Hi Mommy!

See my stones! I've been very busy this afternoon digging and playing

with my trucks - after, of course, a ride around the block with Gramma

in the wind! I stopped and showed her all the interesting things along

the way. Oh my - there's so much to see in this world.

At school I played with Aaron and Chase in the Commons and we put

together a BIG triangular block house that we could ride like a horse or

get inside like a house. What fun we had! And before I left, I listened

to some dinosaur songs on the tape player after a few cups of water.

Thank you for staying home with me yesterday! I LOVE my home; it's my

favorite place to be and it's even better when you and daddy are there

to keep me company.

A Month of Illness and Connection

Jayden and I were blessed in and odd way this past month. We got to spend a lot of time together because he has been fighting some type of illness for the past month or so. Even now as I am typing this Jayden has been battling vomit and diarrhea. He got up at 5 this morning after throwing up twice in bed. Last month he had to fight off pneumonia, and a cold. He has had steroids and anti-biotic's for a while.

But it did give us time to hang out. It was fun, most of the time. He was even willing to stay inside which means that he knew he was sick.

The two nights that were the worst was when Jayden woke up to the point of coughing and throwing up pure phlegm. I had him in the shower all night and then we watched cars at 4 in the morning. Jayden was a trooper through the whole time and even started to like the meds. He also got his first x-ray.. which of course was not very easy with my very active son.

Jayden and I played a lot of Thomas the train and Geo-Tracks. We set up the Hot wheels set and found out that the Shelby GT was the fastest car.

He also has develop a great relationship with one of his teachers a Ms Tara who does his hair and I must say, he looks very sharp. I believe that he is the stud bad boy of the class and the girls of the class like to hang with him. That is how he rolls. He did get a lot of Valentines from them.

Jayden is still growing and his vocabulary is expanding all the time. One time we were leaving Red Robin and Jayden saw something and My father commented on it and he say "huh, that is weird" (an Alison Statement), He has also told me to "hold on" which is totally me.

He know azul is blue and Rojo is red. He can tell time a little as he knows what 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 2, 3 and 1 are by looking at them. (he for some reason does not like to regognize the number 4). And sometimes you can even get him to count to 25.

But Jayden is still Jayden and if you ask him a question he deems insignificant he will ignore it.

Also, kudos to Jayden as he is now playing with Kallee... yea!. Though he still will not share his trains with her.

Why Parents are not perfect and why our children forgive us

Why say that I am not perfect in the title... because I am not. I have many faults, but I hate that have faults when it comes to my children. Last week showed that I have lots to learn.

Last Sunday night Jayden could not sleep because he had fluid building up in his lungs. Alison steamed the bathroom and we put a lot of vicks on his feet... (PS that really works well, the feet get hot and then the vapors move up, plus it keeps the rub away from his nose and chest.) The next couple of days went better... but we got him a prescription for steroids. These caused Jayden to have a lot of energy.

The problem was how we handled the energy. Jayden could never calm down. He always was moving and was staying up until 11 at night. I had to stay with him a couple of nights just so he would stay in bed. One time I held him for 10 minutes trying to get him to listen to me. Alison and I both were worried that Jayden was starting a defiant role. It was not until I saw him on Wednesday in bed that I got it. Jayden could not stop his arms from moving,,, in bed his arms were just going and going and going. I saw what the medication had done to him. He was telling us no and that he could not calm down because he could not.

This is not some revelation telling you that medications are bad, because that is not true. We have been blessed by doctors giving us some anti-biotic and other various meds that have helped clear ear infections and other various illness that have plagued our children. In fact the steroids did help clear out his lungs.

Medication is not the point of this blog,,, what is, is that when I realized that I was the problem with my son, my whole outlook changed. We took him off and there was our son. The one that is happy and loves to play trains and was glad to see us and showed us that he knew the numbers on the clock etc...

Since that time I have reflected on how lucky I am that my son is who he is. He makes life memorable and interesting. He makes me laugh and he is active. He has little intricacies that makes him Jayden.

For example that past couple of weeks, Jayden comes home and goes up stairs and plays with his train sets. He loves his set... Then he comes down and wants something to drink. When you are working on something, he always asks "What are you doing?". He loves working on his tires of his cars. He will not stand in line... etc....

Jayden and Kallee had a good time at the gym on Saturday night... Jayden just loves that there are so many things to do... He ran and ran and jumped and swung and slid and was happy, just plain happy.

As a parent you think that your job is to tell your children what to do. For me, Jayden just needs guidance. Because he is going to grow up a fine young man. He will ask me questions and watch diligently everything around him. He has taught himself to read time between 7-10 at night because he does not want to go to bed before the 9. He has learned letters, pointing to the letter O on the page. He wrote a J last week, Line with a Loop under it.

Not being prefect is okay.. not learning from your mistakes is unforgivable. Especially when it comes to your children.. I promise both of my children that I will always learn to be a better parent.

Jayden was a HUGE fan of the Christmas Season.

He loved the snow... LOVED IT. We bought him snow pants because he was going through three pairs of soaked clothes a day. We played and played and played... We drove his quad through the snow.. (He steered, I pushed a lot). He drove trucks... we had Icicle fights... we made a 5 ft tall snowman.. It was fun.

As for Christmas it went very well. The theme this year was moving.. Jayden loved that theme. He was given toy trains of Percy and Salty to add to his collection of Edward, George, Thomas and others..

Jayden also got Hot Wheels and Air Planes including a space shuttle.

He loves his Geo Track. We have put it together 5 different ways already, though Jayden gets a little upset when Kallee tries to play too. Jayden got a Diesel and more trains and well so many things.

The funny part was that Jayden was not the typical rip and move guy. He liked to play with his presents for a while and then maybe open another. He was happy all the time.

Jayden also recieved a camera in which he took over 100 pictures already... the problem with it is he runs through the batteries like nobodies business. We had to buy rechargeable ones for it.

Love that kid.

He always loves playing with family and this season was no exception. He was blessed to have a lot of time with his cousins who he had a great time with.

He played in the snow with Rocky and Maverick at Grandma and Grandpa Lee's and played cars and trucks with Jonah, and Dawson and Madeline at the Gebers.

As time went on Jayden occasionally shared his toys with his sister "Kallee-boo-boo" but only beacause he wanted to play with her train.

In the months leading up to the Christmas season I have been tired and de-energized.... it took a lot to go through the paces of the day. But the season brought so much joy and happiness that I am refreshed and ready for the new year. Much of that has to do with my family. I have a wonderful forgiving wife, great parents and two little people who captured my heart. Jayden and Kallee are two of the best things about life.

Kallee is a strong and confident girl who knows what she likes and dislikes... Jayden is a Confident happy kid who's investigative skills and his desire to know how things work amaze me.. He can tell me what time it is at night as long as the numbers fall between 7-10... He is working on his letters and his memory is top notch.

Being a husband and a father is a good thing.. a very good thing.

Hi Mommy!

Oh, I LOVE the snow but gramma thought my boots were too wet today so I
stayed inside and read "my favorite book." At least, that's what I told
Gramma & Grampa. Then I decided Molly needed to be found so I got
Grampa's flashlight and took Gramma with me to head downstairs. There
she was in the window.

So - then I decided to play a game on Gramma's computer and chose all
that the snowman and pumpkin needed. I'm getting pretty good with the
mouse.

Before I left school, Dillon and I gave each other a GREAT BIG BEAR
HUG!! What a nice friend.

Jayden was hit with what has to be described as this years roto virus. Last week Jayden was sick in Wednesday and Alison stayed with him on Wednesday and I stayed with him on Thursday. Then Friday night he got the worse part of it. He had diarrhea, very very bad. He was going to the bathroom one or twice an hour. And Jayden's bottom was so sore... It was miserable trying to help him though. He begged us not to touch him... I almost got to the point of crying for him. I wanted to take the pain and give it to myself. We lathered him up with so many different Creams, Butt Paste, Desitin, a doctor perscribed one, but the best was Aveno diaper rash lotion. We put it all over him and then we put it on the diapers... Finally by Wednesday he was feeling better.

Then the good.

Jayden got to spend the night with his Grandparents the Lee's. He got to make a Gingerbread house and had a great time there. He was very excited about the prospect of sleeping with Molly. Jayden then spent Saturday with the other Grandparents. I know he loved it by seeing his face when we came home. He was very happy. I go grateful for the love that Jayden has surrounding him. He are blessed... Happy Holidays!!!

Jayden had a very happy Thanksgiving. He got to do many fun things and really got to do a lot of firsts.

Jayden had his first cashew which I believe he really liked, but he had a reaction to it but was okay and is as strong as ever. On Thursday Morning Jayden somewhat helped get he table ready for Thanksgiving which we had at our house. He was so excited to see his Grandparents and cousins and of Course Uncle Boyd and Auntie Emily. They played with his quad and tri-cycle and Big Wheel, and his toys and ran around and watch the Christmas lights and Music.

Side note, my Christmas Present came early this year as I got a Lights and music coordinator, which flashes our Christmas lights and such with the beat of the music.... I have to say it was a great present and I have enjoyed it ever night so far as Kallee and I watch the lights while Jayden rides his quad and tries to take the lights apart. Typical boy.

Jayden also went through most of the weekend without taking naps. He did pretty well and he went to bed a lot earlier, so that made the nights a little more quiet.

Jayden also got to go to Toppenish. That does not sound like a fantastic thing. But on Saturday it was. They have a real Christmas train ride. Jayden and Alison and Kallee got to take their very first Train ride. Jayden was in heaven as before we got on the train there were model trains everywhere and Christmas Trees and lights and all that is good about this season.

Jayden got to run some of the model trains, which were made out of metal, Lego's, plastic and of many shapes and forms... It was very impressive, including one set that had a whole community set up in it.

Then we rode the Christmas Train and saw Santa. It was a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to it next year.

Holy cow the kid is fast. I am hoping that the way he drives his quad and rides his tri-cycles and Big Wheels is how he will attack life... He is all out. Jayden has been great this past week. He went with me to the UHS Soccer game, which they won and now are playing for the State Championship in Willsonville. That is amazing... Go Vikings. Nancy Cardenas of UHS won the girls CC State Championship so we are having a great year. Plus the football team won their first game in the playoffs... I am very happy for the kids.

My son's philosophy of Halloween is so refreshing.

First his idea of the Pumpkin celebration. His idea of celebrating with a Pumpkin is to roll it up to a slide and watch it go down.,,, which is very much an enjoyable game. Yes he did like making the Jack-O-Lantern and watching it glow... but rollin the Pumpkin.. that is fun.

Next his philosophy of Trick-or-Treating was refreshing. He started by giving his Candy away. The Lady was impressed saying that was the first time that ever happened.

Next was the fact that if someone did not open their door, he would just walk into their house and say hi... I am not sure this one is a good idea. I liked the Phillies T-Shirt he was wearing, I told everyone he was a "World Champion". But he also got to be a Pumpkin, and Superman.

The Gentleman who came to escort Jayden out of his house said that they do not celebrate Halloween... This got me to thinking why not?

Halloween was created by the Irish, More specifically the druids to celebrate what they thought of as their "New Year". It is said in their religion that this day was one where those who had passed would rise in celebration. People started wearing Masks and scary costumes not only to emulate ghosts, but to ward them off.

The Romans Catholics changed their All-Saints day (which was in May), to October 31st and called it Hallomass (for All-Hallows Eve). Which was dedicated to celebrate the life of saints and martyrs who had passed away.

In Mexico, they Celebrate the Day of the dead (most skeletons and pumpkins were added here.) They would celebrate the lives of dear ones that have passed on.

The Irish used turnips and candles in their celebrations.

Samhain, usually celebrated on or near the evening of OCT-31. It was originally a celebration of the final harvest of the growing season among the ancient Celts. This is now celebrated by many as their "Harvest Festival".

So the basics are this, you are celebrating a great harvest or you are celebrating the lives of people passed that were special to you.

I understand that it started with a Pagan tradition. I also understand that people are offended by this. But I also see people celebration good things and happiness. So pick your choice.

Personally I like the fact that we have something to do on Oct 31st that gets us out of our everyday things. I liked watching Jayden and his cousins dress up and play. I like that people opened their homes and gave to the community.

I like that Jayden was doing his own traditions.... I think as Jayden and Kallee grow up we will celebrate Halloween/All-Saints/Harvest Fest. I will tell Jayden & Kallee all about the background of the Holiday and not make it a big deal, letting them decide what they feel about it.

On a Personal Note,,, if the Angels win the World Series next year, both kids will be dressed in red and white with Halos... and World Champs on their shirts... Angels... My two little Angels.
